Volunteer for NC's Election Protection Hotline (888-OUR-VOTE)

With the implementation of North Carolina’s Voter ID law in 2023, it is more important than ever to ensure voters have the support they need to cast their ballot freely this election.

The nonpartisan North Carolina Election Protection Hotline (888-OUR-VOTE) is recruiting volunteer lawyers, paralegals, and law students to answer the hotline during peak periods in the 2024 General Election.

Dedicated volunteers answered over 600 calls during the 2024 Primary Election. We anticipate an even greater demand this election.

Volunteers are especially needed during Early Voting (October 17 - November 2) and Election Day (November 5).

Volunteers answer calls and texts from voters across the state, document problems, and work to remove barriers to voting. The hotline is 100% virtual, so volunteers will get trained and answer calls and texts from home.

Volunteers are required to:

• Have a JD, be currently enrolled in law school, or have prior experience answering the NC voter hotline.
• Be able to serve a minimum of 2-3 shifts a month. You do not have to volunteer every month the hotline is active.
• Have access to a computer with reliable internet access and a headset with a microphone.
• Have basic computer/internet skills and the ability to troubleshoot problems.
• Be able to attend and complete a 2-hour online training.
• Be able to interact with voters in a calm, nonpartisan manner.
