    The Liberated Arts Movement is a collective of artists, educators and organizers dedicated to serving historically marginalized groups through creative, mindful and civically engaged programming. We are looking for qualified, passionate and resourceful board members to serve our mission, guard our vision and help us take our impact to the next level.

    Role Description

    Community is important to us; both internally and externally. We are looking for co-creators that are growing or established experts in the respective fields that will govern and protect the vision and mission of the Liberated Arts Movement as board members. This role is a 1 year volunteer position with potential for a two year renewal and will serve alongside other founding board members and the Executive Director, Tara Levy.

    Role Responsibilities

    As a Secretary, you will be responsible for internal communications, scheduling meetings for the board and with potential external stakeholders, managing the boards calendars and keeping the Board on task. Liberated Arts facilitates a variety of workshops, programs and services that benefit the community. Our 2025 programming goal is to have 10-12 creative arts and community oriented programs and launch our education initiative, Liberated Writers. You will be responsible for ensuring that our timelines and deadlines for events, event needs and staffing are communicated efficiently.

    This role would be responsible for:

    • Organizing and schedule meetings for the board and other stakeholders
    • Ensuring that at least two Board Members are available to attend Liberated Arts workshops and events through scheduling
    • Assisting with the strategic planning, vendor sourcing, stakeholder management by providing follow ups, reminders and scheduling meetings for the board
    • Developing marketing campaigns and materials in support of events and programming throughout the year
    • Taking clear and detailed notes for all board meetings and circulating those minutes to Board and Committee members in a timely fashion
    • Assisting with communicating to secured or new vendors, partners, sponsors and funders to support Board Chair
    • Maximizing new connections by following up in communication for the Liberated
    • Arts Movement
    • Securely storing notes and minutes for Board access
    • Acting as an Ambassador and advocate for the Liberated Arts Movement mission Expected to attend full team board meetings once a month and individual meeting with Executive Director, once a month
    • Expected to attend and lead at least 2-3 Liberated Arts events for the year

    Qualifications

    • Must have a Bachelor's degree
    • Must have strong writing, communications and/or program management experience At least 2 to 3 years of demonstrated Program/Project management or Writing experience.
    • At least 1 year in a previous board member role or in a non profit role.
    • Strong and empathetic understanding of marginalized communities and their needs
    • Demonstrated passion for the Creative Arts, Community Development, Youth Development, Nonprofit Development or Education is preferred
