    End of Life Volunteer Description

    Role Summary:

    An End of Life Volunteer provides comfort, support, and companionship to individuals who are nearing the end of their lives. They play a crucial role in enhancing the quality of remaining life and easing the process for both the individuals and their families.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Companionship: Provide companionship to the individuals, spending time with them, engaging in conversation, reading to them, or participating in activities they enjoy.

    Emotional Support: Offer emotional support to the individuals and their families, providing a comforting presence during a challenging time.

    1. Practical Assistance: Assist with practical tasks such as light housekeeping, meal preparation, or running errands.

    Respite Care: Provide respite care to give family members a break, allowing them to rest and take care of their own needs.

    Bereavement Support: Provide bereavement support to the family after the individual’s passing, offering comfort and assistance during their grieving process.

    Skills and Qualifications:

    Empathy and Compassion: Ability to empathize with the feelings of the individuals and their families, offering comfort and understanding.

    Communication Skills: Excellent listening and communication skills to understand the needs and wishes of the individuals.

    Patience: Ability to be patient and respectful, understanding that this is a sensitive time for the individuals and their families.

    This is not a paid position; Hospice Volunteers do no give medications or perform other nursing duties.

    *Driver's License, a background check, Tuberculosis Testing (TB), and Opportunity specific training are required for this role, as it is in direct contact with patients and families, and they are provided by Corus Health.

    *A valid Driver's License and current automobile is required for this position.
