    Descrição

    Midwifery Internship in Ghana

St. Miracle Works Educational Foundation needs midwife interns and volunteers to assist our partnered hospitals and clinics in Ghana. These health facilities offer maternity services and diagnosis, treatment of malaria, typhoid, diarrhea, as well as provide contraceptive services, immunization for infants, ante-natal care, ultrasound scan services, and HIV/AIDS counseling and testing.

Volunteer will also be able to participate in health education focused on providing expectant and nursing teen mothers who visit these health centers. Main topics include family planning and reproductive health, dietary nutrition for babies, and prevention of mother to child transmission of HIV/AIDS. Weekly immunization services are provided at the health center, as well as some outreach into remote village areas.

Volunteer with medical training/expertise and knowledge in the medical, nursing, midwifery or public health fields (students, groups, families are welcome) can help by providing curative and preventive health services. This is a challenging medical placement due to lack of facilities. Volunteers need to bring their own medical scrubs, gloves, mask for personal use.

    Travel tips

Volunteers will arrive at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) in Accra, the Capital city of Ghana. After been through arrival formalities, SMWEF staffs will meet you at the airport holding a placard at the arrival hall. Volunteers will be picked up from the airport to their accommodation where they will be having their volunteer work placement.

    Benefits for volunteers

    2. Make a positive impact on community health and well-being through meaningful contributions and service.
    3. Develop essential skills in communication, teamwork, cultural sensitivity, and problem-solving.
    4. Gain practical insights into healthcare practices and public health challenges in Africa.

Receive a certificate of participation upon successful completion of the project and a reference letter upon request.

Interested volunteers can apply for the Midwifery volunteer and internship program by completing our online application form.

    Scrubs Requirement:

Interns are required to bring along 3 sets of scrubs for their hospital rotations. These scrubs will be used during their clinical duties at the hospital and are essential for maintaining hygiene standards.
