    Treasurer - Board Member

    We strongly encourage individuals from LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC communities to apply. This position requires a background check and additional training.

    Role Responsibilities and Qualifications

    • Responsibilities: Oversee all financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, audits, and compliance with legal and nonprofit regulations. Provide financial reports to the board, maintain oversight of financial health, and advise on financial strategy. Collaborate with fundraising efforts to align financial goals and budgets.
    • Qualifications: Experience in finance, accounting, and/or financial management, preferably at a nonprofit. Possesses strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills. Knowledge of nonprofit financial regulations and compliance requirements.

    • Passion for Mission and Values: Demonstrated commitment to advancing PFLAG’s mission of creating a caring, just, and affirming world for LGBTQ+ people and those who love them. Deeply understands and actively supports the organization’s three pillars of education, advocacy, and support, while embodying PFLAG’s values of accountability, bravery, inclusivity, and collaboration to foster a culture of safety, empowerment, and belonging for all.
    • LGBTQ+ Community Experience, Allyship, and Intersectionality: Strong personal, professional, or lived experience with LGBTQ+ communities, either as a member or through committed allyship, with a deep understanding of intersectionality and how various identities (e.g., race, gender, socioeconomic status) intersect with LGBTQ+ experiences.
    • Collaborative Leadership and Stakeholder Engagement: Proven ability to work effectively with board members, volunteers, and external partners to achieve organizational goals. Demonstrates strong communication skills to engage, inspire, and maintain relationships with diverse perspectives and experiences.

    All board members are expected to:

    • Commit to a minimum of 3-4 hours per month for a two-year term.
    • Maintain a current PFLAG LA membership.
    • Attend quarterly + special board meetings and training as needed.
    • Actively participate in advancing our mission through their expertise and networks.

      3. What experiences are you hoping to gain as a board member, and what unique perspectives do you bring to support our mission?
    3. Provide two professional or community references who can speak to your qualifications for the role(s) you’re applying for. This will be asked later on in the process if you move forward.

    What to Expect After Applying

    Board Position Process:

    1. Submit Your Application
    2. Initial Interview (30-minute Zoom)
    3. Second Interview (30-45 minute Zoom with two board members)
    4. Board Vote and Invitation (at a future board meeting)
    5. Complete Onboarding and Training
