Watoto
Wa Africa Orphanage is an orphanage, founded in 2000 by Josephat and Rosemary Kirutu. It was registered as a Tanzanian Non-Government Organization in 2006 (Registration#: 14NGO/1525). The primary focus of Watoto Wa Africa is to care for orphaned and other vulnerable children in Buswelu Village in Mwanza and to provide these children with a chance of a future. The orphanage is currently home to 108 orphans and street children. Here the children are provided with basic human rights including food, water, shelter, clothing, education – and most importantly, love. Over the years we have had success in providing the children with a good education, sending almost all of them to secondary school, which is well beyond the Tanzanian average, and even a few to University, which we are particularly proud of.
