Seicento Baroque Ensemble (www.seicentobaroque.org) is a local organization that brings excellent, historically informed baroque concerts and events to the Boulder/Denver area. We are soliciting applications for new board members from diverse backgrounds, with one or more of these qualities.
Are you someone who:
- Loves music and is fulfilled by sharing it?
- Is a creative thinker and will follow through on a project?
- Enjoys collaborating with others?
- Is either detail oriented, or sees the big picture?
- Is a good listener and communicator?
Examples of the varied backgrounds of current board members: manual therapist, photographer, graduate student, computer engineer, restaurateur, nonprofit database manager.
What SBE offers you as a prospective board member:
- A functional board of people who like each other and work well together
- A vision of offering excellent, historically informed music and events to delight and heal the listener, with 10 years of successful performances in the Denver area
- An artistic director with vision, commitment and knowledge of her craft
What SBE asks of you:
- Attendance at monthly meetings, with hiatus in summer
- Read and agree to the 'new board member’ document
- Joyful effort as an active volunteer!

Board members should have a love of music in general and musical performance and education, and a willingness to fully participate in board activities. Because of our small size and budget (under $50,000 per year), we are currently unable to hire an executive director to perform the management and administrative duties needed for the organization to thrive. Because of this, we expect each board member to actively work on one or more of the committees established so that Seicento can function. Examples of committees are:
- Budget
- Fundraising and development
- Grant writing
- Marketing and media
- Contracts
- Website
- Event management
- Outreach
Directors have two-year, renewable terms. We expect board members to engage in approximately five hours per week on Seicento work. This will vary throughout the year, depending on the programming season and your leadership or participation in the various committees and the work entailed in those committees. We expect each director to contribute financially to Seicento, whether that's $25 or $2500. If you are unable to give financially, then we ask you to find financial supporters or to contribute in-kind.
If you are interested, we ask that you write a one-page letter expressing your interest in becoming a Board member, reasons you want to join, and anything else you want to include. Also, please include a résumé or CV.
