Wevise is a US-based nonprofit startup dedicated to making careers in the technology industry more attainable and creating diverse and inclusive tech communities through equitable access to mentorship, education, and career opportunities. We are a team of passionate volunteers from diverse backgrounds committed to leveling the playing field in tech and beyond.

Our first program, launched in June 2023, is a mentorship platform focused on providing personal and professional guidance in the technology industry, particularly to individuals from disadvantaged communities or those facing additional barriers.

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced individual to join our founding Board of Directors as Treasurer. In this role, you will play a critical part in ensuring the financial stability and accountability of Wevise, supporting our mission to foster professional growth and opportunities within the tech industry. Initially, more time will be required to establish financial systems and processes.

Responsibilities:

Financial Management:

Oversee budgeting, accounting, and reporting activities.

Collaborate on annual budget development and monitoring.

Maintain accurate financial records and ensure compliance.

Provide regular financial updates and reports to the board.

Fundraising and Grant Management:

Develop and implement fundraising strategies.

Identify potential funding sources, including grants and donors.

Assist in grant proposal preparation and tracking.

Ensure proper utilization of grant funds.

Financial Planning and Strategy:

Provide financial analysis and recommendations.

Evaluate financial viability of initiatives.

Manage financial risks and implement safeguards.

Advise on financial best practices.

Board Engagement and Collaboration:

Participate actively in quarterly board meetings.

Collaborate with board members and stakeholders.

Engage in board committees and represent Wevise externally.

Requirements:

Availability of 10-15 hours per month for the first three months, then 5-10 hours per month thereafter.

Demonstrated financial management experience.

Strong knowledge of financial principles and accounting.

Familiarity with nonprofit governance and compliance.

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work collaboratively in a team.

Passion for Wevise's mission.

Proficiency in financial management software/tools (QuickBooks and Google Sheets/Excel).
