    The Role:

    The Chief Operating Officer (COO) will be a key leadership team member, reporting directly to the CEO. This individual will be responsible for overseeing daily operations, building and leading the Operations team, and ensuring the successful execution of strategic initiatives. The ideal candidate is a proactive and organized leader with experience in operations, team management, and process improvement. This is a fully remote, volunteer position.

    Conditions:

    • Location: Remote
    • Commitment: Part-time (volunteer, pro bono role)
    • Contribution Requirements: minimum 10-15 hours a week; minimum 3 months.

    Key Responsibilities

    Operational Leadership

    • Oversee and manage the organization’s daily operations, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness.
    • Develop and implement policies, procedures, and systems to optimize operations.
    • Ensure that all programs and initiatives are executed on time and meet organizational goals.

    Team Management & Development

    • Build, lead, and mentor the Operations team, fostering a culture of accountability and collaboration.
    • Support cross-functional teams to streamline workflows and improve productivity.
    • Identify staffing and volunteer needs, assisting with recruitment and onboarding.

    Strategic Planning & Execution

    • Collaborate with the CEO and leadership team to develop and execute strategic initiatives.
    • Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure success and impact.
    • Identify areas for operational improvement and implement solutions.

    Required Qualifications & Experience

    • Minimum of 10 years of experience in operations, nonprofit management, or a related field.
    • Proven leadership experience in a management or executive role, preferably within a nonprofit organization.
    • Strong project management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks effectively.
    • Experience developing and implementing policies, procedures, and operational strategies.
    • Strong analytical skills and ability to use data-driven decision-making.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with teams, stakeholders, and volunteers.
    • Passion for the mission and vision of Solution Community.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience leading a volunteer-based organization or team.
    • Familiarity with nonprofit finance, fundraising, and compliance.
    • Background in process optimization and change management.
