    About Natün Guatemala

    Natün Guatemala is a multidisciplinary, majority Maya-led organization passionate about elevating Indigenous leadership, rights, and capacity. We equip local change agents and catalyze existing local resources to facilitate the sustainable development of healthy, economically vibrant Maya communities. Together, our Maya staff and local community leaders implement community-led programs to achieve significant long-term change.

    The Opportunity

    Natün Guatemala seeks volunteer photographers to collaborate with our team. This is a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in rural Indigenous Guatemala and have a behind-the-scenes look at Natün's inspiring work. We welcome volunteers who can commit to a minimum of 3 days, but we are also open to hosting long-term volunteers.

    Your Role as a Volunteer Photographer

    As a volunteer photographer, you will:

    • Visit rural Maya communities and document daily life, traditions, and program activities
    • Capture the breathtaking scenery of Guatemala's diverse traditions/culture
    • Work alongside Indigenous Maya-Kaqchikel staff and community leaders and contribute to the elevation of Indigenous voices, perspectives, and experiences
    • Utilize your visual storytelling skills to support Natün's mission 
    • Produce ~20 high-quality images per day
    • Document specific community events and development projects

    What We're Looking For  

    We encourage you to apply if you are:

    • A passionate photographer or videographer interested in using your craft for social impact
    • Skilled in portrait, photo-journalism, and event photography
    • Culturally sensitive and adaptable to new environments
    • A team player with good communication skills
    • Proficient in Spanish (preferred but not required)
