Join our community of Doula Volunteers who visit individuals facing the end stage of life with few or no friends or family.
The Doula Program to Accompany and Comfort's mission is to minimize the isolation and loneliness experienced by individuals with advanced illness. Our Doula Volunteers get to know these individuals beyond their illness, visiting them weekly as illness progresses for as long as the person lives.
We are the only nonprofit organization of its kind specializing in training, carefully matching and supervising Doula Volunteers who visit individuals each week for an hour (at their home, nursing home or hospital).
Our volunteers find their lives as enriched as the lives of those they visit.
After the training, you set your own schedule with the person you visit. We ask for at least one year commitment (ideally 3 years) after you complete the training.
Training Schedule: Training will be Wednesday evenings beginning March 19, 2025 - May 7, 2025 (6:30-8:30 PM over 8 weeks). Trainings will take place at our offices in lower Manhattan.
