Help Make Books Accessible to Kids!

EyeSeeMe Bookstore is expanding its mission by building our nonprofit arm, The EyeSeeMe Foundation. This is a unique opportunity to be on the ground floor of meaningful community work and help shape the future of the Foundation. The EyeSeeMe Foundation works to ensure that every child—especially those in underserved communities—has access to books that reflect their culture, inspire their dreams, and improve literacy skills. Many of the students and families we serve have limited access to books, and we’re on a mission to change that.

By partnering with schools and local organizations, we bring book fairs, literacy programs, and family engagement opportunities directly to communities in need. We’re seeking volunteers who are passionate about education, literacy, and equity to help us grow our impact.

We’re open to any way you want to support literacy and empower young readers—these roles are flexible and can be shaped to fit your skills and interests!

    Sample Roles & Responsibilities:

Here are just a few ways you can get involved:

    1. Community Outreach and School Partnerships
      • Identify and connect with schools and community organizations serving students in need.
      • Build relationships with educators and administrators to expand our programs.
      • Help track and organize schools that receive support from our Foundation.
    2. Book Fair Planning and Support
      • Assist with organizing and hosting book fairs at local schools.
      • Help with setup, book displays, and engaging with students and families during book fairs.
      • Provide logistical support, including inventory management and coordinating volunteers.
    3. Program Support and Family Engagement
      • Assist with planning family literacy nights and other engagement activities.
      • Help design and distribute materials to promote literacy at home.
      • Organize and prepare books for donation to schools and families.
    4. Grant Research and Fundraising Support (optional)
      • Research potential funding opportunities and grants to support our programs.
      • Assist in writing proposals or organizing fundraising events to expand our reach.
    5. Your Idea!
    6. We welcome your creativity. If you have another idea to support literacy in underserved communities, let us know. We’re excited to work with volunteers who bring their own vision and energy to our mission.

    Qualifications:

We’re looking for volunteers with the following qualities:

    • Passion for literacy, education, and equity in underserved communities.
    • Strong communication and organizational skills.
    • Comfortable working with educators, families, and children in diverse communities.
    • Experience in outreach, event planning, or nonprofit work is helpful but not required.
    • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Time Commitment: Flexible. We are open to any time commitment, depending on your availability and role.

    Remote and In-Person Balance:

    • Remote Work: Outreach coordination, research, grant writing, and administrative support.
    • In-Person Work: School book fairs, family engagement events, and community outreach activities in the St. Louis area.

    Why This Work Matters:

Access to books is one of the most powerful tools for improving a child’s academic success and self-esteem. For too many students, that access is limited or non-existent. By volunteering with the EyeSeeMe Foundation, you’ll provide critical resources to children and families, helping to close educational gaps and inspire a love for reading.

    Benefits of Volunteering:

    • Be part of building a growing nonprofit dedicated to literacy and equity.
    • Gain hands-on experience in nonprofit work, event planning, and community outreach.
    • Make a lasting impact on the lives of children and families.
    • Build connections with educators, families, and community leaders.
