Join our unique Plastic for Pencil initiative in North Sulawesi, Indonesia—where your impact stretches from coastal villages to urban innovation labs. As a volunteer, you’ll live by the beach in Kapitu village and teach children about plastic pollution, helping them exchange plastic waste for school supplies. Meanwhile, in the city of Manado, you’ll assist a local community group in transforming compressed plastic waste into useful products like signage, panels, and bins using their own recycling machines. You’ll also support the group in creating SOPs, building digital marketing strategies, and designing sustainable fundraising systems. This is an immersive opportunity to blend grassroots education with eco-innovation, while contributing to real community change.

Search on Google Maps for Rumah Singgah Manado, Manengkel Solidaritas, or Sosoro Diving Center, located at Jl. Yos Sudarso 12, No. 11, Kelurahan Paal 2, Kecamatan Paal Dua, Manado City, North Sulawesi.
From Sam Ratulangi Airport, you can take a taxi heading to Paal Dua. Manengkel is located directly across from the PT Fajar factory, inside a small alley with paving blocks. The location is about 30 minutes from the airport and is close to local shops and residential areas. Look for a building with a Manengkel Solidaritas sign in front.
We do not require any additional documents. Before the activity begins, we only request a brief interview with the group leader or coordinator to understand their goals and ensure program alignment. For individual volunteers, the interview will be conducted directly with the applicant. The interview can be held online or by phone, depending on what is most convenient for the volunteer.
