    About Mobile Info Team

    Mobile Info Team (MIT) is determined to work towards a future where people on the move in Greece have fair access to asylum and are treated with the respect their humanity deserves. We do this by providing people on the move with vital information and clarification about the asylum process and related procedures.

    Next to information provision, we advocate for the rights of people on the move by collecting testimonies and publishing reports. We engage with other actors in order to put the protection and promotion of human rights on the European political agenda and to tackle key obstacles faced by asylum seekers and refugees in Greece.

    What we are looking for

    A proactive, enthusiastic, strategic supporter of social justice that has prior experience in providing legal advice and information to people on the move, ideally in Greece. An excellent communicator, team player and motivator, culturally sensitive, self organised individual with a strong interest in navigating complex legal issues.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Support the day to day operations of the casework team by monitoring workload, checking quality and providing constant feedback
    • Responsible for dividing the hotlines and other work activities over the casework and interpreter team
    • Manage own caseload of long term legal cases in collaboration with lawyer and director
    • In collaboration with the director improve workflows and quality assurance by contributing to developing and improving working methods and tools available to casework team
    • Support the Project Manager in HR and wellbeing support for the casework and interpreter team including inductions and conducting 1-1 feedback sessions
    • Conduct and support information provision and legal advice on the digital hotlines according to workload of casework team
    • Conduct legal research
    • Supervise the interpreter team in their daily work, induct and train new team members and have regular check-ins
    • Supervise attendance of casework team to outreach activities
    • Monitor and report (potential) breaches of MIT’s policy framework including safeguarding, dealing with people at risk and code of conduct
    • Contribute to MIT’s overall priorities and goals as part of long term and ad-hoc projects

    Profile

    • At least 6 months of experience in legal casework and/or information provision for asylum seekers and refugees, ideally within Greece
    • Fluency in English and excellent written and verbal communication skills. Additional competence in Greek, Arabic, Farsi and/or French is strongly preferred
    • Strong interpersonal skills, attune to group dynamics and emotions and excellent communication skills with an understanding of cultural sensitivities
    • Experience in managing & supervising multiple people
    • Prior experience with working with/supervising interpreters is highly desirable
    • Ability to research and understand complex legal frameworks and their practical application
    • Understanding of working in an online environment, e.g. ability to work in spreadsheets, with different online communication tools and ability to solve digital problems
    • Confident in managing administrative tasks, interpreting data and seeking improvement
    • Strong independent work ethic and commitment to supporting people realise their human rights
    • Adept at working in variable context, comfortable with unpredictability and change
