The Peace Economy Project is seeking reliable and detail-oriented Cleanup Crew Volunteers to help restore the venue after the Valentine’s Day Vigil Against Gun Violence. Volunteers in this role will ensure the space is left clean, safe, and respectful following the event, reflecting the values of care and community that the vigil represents.
Responsibilities:
- Pre-Event Setup Support (Optional):
- Assist with organizing and arranging materials before the event.
- Prepare bins and bags for waste and recycling collection.
- Post-Event Cleanup:
- Collect and properly dispose of trash, recyclables, and candle remnants.
- Take down decorations, signage, and displays.
- Fold and stack chairs, disassemble tables, and pack up supplies.
- Clean up any spills and leave the space in excellent condition.
- Equipment and Supply Management:
- Organize and return event materials to designated storage areas or vehicles.
- Account for all reusable items and ensure they are packed safely for transport.
- Safety and Recycling:
- Separate recyclable materials and encourage sustainable cleanup practices.
- Handle any hazardous materials, such as broken candles or glass, with care.
Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry equipment and materials (up to 25-50 lbs).
- Comfortable working outdoors and moving around for extended periods.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- Reliable, punctual, and committed to leaving the space clean and orderly.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience in event support, custodial work, or volunteer cleanup efforts (not required).
- Attention to detail and ability to follow directions.
- Passion for community service and advocacy.
