Position Summary:
The Outreach Coordinator is responsible for fostering strong community relationships and coordinating events to support homeless individuals across New Jersey. This individual will be the liaison between our organization, homeless shelters, potential volunteers, and community members.
Responsibilities:
- Establish and maintain relationships with various homeless shelters in New Jersey
- Communicate with shelter staff to understand their specific needs and identify opportunities for collaboration
- Develop and execute a comprehensive outreach strategy to raise awareness of our community outreach group and its programs
- Recruit, train, and manage a team of dedicated volunteers
- Organize and facilitate hygiene assistance, supply drives, haircuts, and other services at homeless shelters
- Promote community events and programs through social media, email campaigns, and other outreach efforts
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure seamless event coordination and delivery
Qualifications:
- Strong understanding of the homeless population and the unique challenges they face
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
- Proven ability to build partnerships and develop collaborative relationships
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
- Experience in event planning, volunteer coordination, and community outreach
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, email marketing platforms, and social media
- Interest in business, social work, non-profit management, or a related field
- Knowledge of local community resources and services is preferred
- Reliable transportation for travel to various shelters and events
