About Us:

DEFEND is a volunteer-run nonprofit dedicated to reducing risks for children and vulnerable people online. We are currently building 65square, the world’s healthiest social media and dating platform, designed with game-like features and characteristics of an MMO. Our goal is to create a safer, more positive online space for users.

Role Description:

The Business Management / Biz Team Lead will be responsible for overseeing the strategic development, implementation, and management of our new social app. This role requires a blend of business acumen, leadership skills, and a passion for social impact. The ideal candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that the app aligns with our organizational goals and meets the needs of our community.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Planning:

• Develop and implement a comprehensive business strategy for the social app.
• Conduct market research to identify trends, user needs, and competitive landscape.
• Set measurable goals and objectives to track the success of the app.

Team Leadership:

• Build and lead a diverse team of professionals including developers, marketers, and community managers.
• Foster a collaborative environment that encourages innovation and creativity.
• Provide mentorship and professional development opportunities for team members.

Project Management:

• Oversee all phases of app development from concept through launch.
• Coordinate with technical teams to ensure timely delivery of features and updates.
• Manage budgets, timelines, and resources effectively.

Stakeholder Engagement:

• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to align the app’s features with organizational objectives.
• Engage with external partners, users, and community members to gather feedback and improve user experience.
• Represent the organization at industry events, conferences, and community meetings.

Performance Monitoring:

• Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure app usage, engagement, and impact.
• Analyze data to inform decision-making processes and optimize app functionality.
• Prepare regular reports on progress towards goals for senior management.

Marketing & Outreach:

• Develop marketing strategies to promote the app within target communities.
• Utilize social media platforms and other channels to increase visibility and user acquisition.
• Create content that resonates with users while promoting organizational values.

Qualifications:

• MUST be 18 years and above.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in business management or project leadership roles; experience in non-profit sector is a plus.
• Proven track record in managing digital products or social applications from inception through launch.
• Strong analytical skills with experience in data-driven decision making.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage diverse audiences effectively.
• Passionate about social impact initiatives and community engagement.
