Position: We're building a new social media app called 65square which will have verification for everyone. Will you scam people or ask kids on dates if you're verified? No. The app is very unique and the only place for web browser connections is from businesses and creator (e-commerce). React /JavaScript & Bootstrap experience an asset!

About Us:

DEFEND is a volunteer-run nonprofit dedicated to reducing risks for children and vulnerable people online. We are currently building 65square, the world’s healthiest social media and dating platform, designed with game-like features and characteristics of an MMO. Our goal is to create a safer, more positive online space for users.

Role Description:

The React/Bootstrap Developer will be responsible for designing and implementing user-friendly web applications that align with our mission. This role requires a strong understanding of front-end technologies, particularly React and Bootstrap, to create responsive and accessible interfaces. The ideal candidate will work closely with our design and development teams to ensure that our web applications meet the needs of our users while maintaining high standards of performance and usability.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain web applications using React.js and Bootstrap.
• Collaborate with designers to translate UI/UX wireframes into functional web applications.
• Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code following best practices.
• Optimize applications for maximum speed and scalability.
• Ensure the technical feasibility of UI/UX designs.
• Conduct code reviews and provide constructive feedback to peers.
• Troubleshoot and debug issues as they arise.
• Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry trends.

Qualifications:

• MUST be 18 years and above.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• Proven experience as a Front-End Developer with a focus on React.js and Bootstrap.
• Strong proficiency in JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3, and responsive design principles.
• Familiarity with RESTful APIs and asynchronous request handling.
• Experience with version control systems such as Git.
• Knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG) is a plus.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with state management libraries (e.g., Redux).
• Understanding of testing frameworks (e.g., Jest, Enzyme).
• Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.
