Bereavement Services Volunteer

Purpose:

To provide bereavement services to loved ones of patients who have passed and during the services being provided to the patient while being on with Stillwater Hospice.

Essential Duties:

1. Assist with preparing materials for program support.
2. Coordinate and complete mailings.
3. Provide administrative support for program-related needs.
4. Provide support during the 13-month period following the passing of a patient through mailings, support groups and phone calls.
5. Provide emotional support by using active listening skills, providing education regarding grief responses, provides information regarding available community resources, etc.
6. Records accurately, timely, and objective documentation on each activity.
7. Work alongside Bereavement Coordinator to gain an understanding on: appropriate demeanor for bereavement calls and visits, completion of assessments, etc.
8. Time commitment of 2-3 hours a week.
9. Complete mandatory trainings.

Volunteer Hours are completed between the timeframe

Monday through Friday 8:00AM to 5:00PM
