There Goes My Hero

There Goes My Hero is a 501(c)-3 nonprofit with a mission to save lives, provide hope, and help those impacted by blood cancer. We are a small organization of dedicated professionals and volunteers that has a large impact on the blood cancer community, registering over 23,134 people to the bone marrow donor registry, which has resulted in 709 matches and led to 67 life-saving transplants.  

We also accomplish our mission through a variety of initiatives including the Hero Fund and Color The Registry. In partnership with Johns Hopkins Hospital and Moveable Feast, the Hero Fund allows us to cover the unanticipated costs of blood cancer treatment, including meals during treatment, medically-tailored meals post discharge, parking, transportation, and co-pays. This prevents patients and families from having to forgo life-saving medication to cover their basic needs like rent, mortgage, and utilities.

Our Color The Registry initiative seeks to diversify the bone marrow donor registry, offering hope to all patients in need of a bone marrow transplant, regardless of their ethnic or racial background.
