    Sobre Nós

The Global Centre for Climate Mobility (GCCM) is a global partnership at the nexus of climate action and human mobility to enable positive adaptation journeys for people and communities at the frontline of the climate crisis, prioritizing their adaptive capacities and right to stay. It is hosted at the UN Office for Project Services (UNOPS) and advanced with champion countries, UN Agencies, the World Bank, and regional organizations with support from philanthropies, civil society organizations and research organizations. Together, they are part of the vibrant global ecosystem of partners and stakeholders that the GCCM is fostering to enable community-led adaptation. The efforts and engagements of the GCCM are also supported by the GCCM Foundation hosted by the Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors.

Since its establishment in 2021, the GCCM supports community transition in vulnerable regions through regional initiatives that enable countries and frontline communities to anticipate, plan, and design responses for climate mobility. The GCCM is currently advancing the Africa Climate Mobility Initiative (launched in 2021), the Greater Caribbean Climate Mobility Initiative (2022), the Pacific Climate Mobility Initiative (2023), and the Coastal Cities Initiative (2025); and enabling the Rising Nations Initiative (RNI, 2022) that supports Pacific atoll countries in preserving statehood, protecting sovereignty, and safeguarding rights and heritage.

The work and engagements of the GCCM are guided by its Executive Board. Each Initiative has a dedicated Steering Committee of UN entities, champion countries, the World Bank, and relevant regional organizations and stakeholders. The regional Climate Mobility Initiatives and the RNI have dedicated funds with contributions from governments, philanthropies, and UN and expert entities.

The GCCM advances its work at the global, regional, national and local levels through four practices: 1) Knowledge & Policy Hub; 2) Solutions Lab; 3) Community Financing; (4) and Climate Mobility Academy. Working with regional organizations, governments and relevant stakeholders, the GCCM builds data & knowledge; enables common agendas and policy ecosystems; and mobilizes strategic partnerships and resources for implementation of projects and grants.

The GCCM also leads the Communities Climate Adaptation Facility (C-CAF), which enables community-led adaptation through climate quick impact grants of up to USD$ 100,000 each. Its four funding windows (Africa, Pacific, Greater Caribbean, and Coastal Cities) are designed to meet the urgent funding needs of communities at the frontline of the climate, scaling up support through close partnership with national governments and financing partners.

The GCCM organizes three annual flagship forums: The Climate Mobility Pavilion at the COP, the Climate Mobility Summit in the margins of the UN High-Level Week in September, as well as the Berlin Climate Mobility Forum. The GCCM flagship forums are recognized as premier global convening platforms to facilitate engagements and exchanges among thought leaders, policymakers, experts and affected communities.

The GCCM is the secretariat for global coalitions that are cross-regional advocacy platforms, including the Coalition for Sea-level rise & its Existential Threats (C-SET) and the Ocean Rise & Coastal Resilience. The GCCM also enables the Climate Mobility Elders Group, an independent group of global champion leaders working together to center climate action on people and communities at the frontline of the climate crisis.
