Lodestar aims to empower children and families to take charge in their own treatment and recovery, and prevent more vulnerable youth from being hospitalized for mental health struggles. Using a "strengths-based" approach, we focus on the inherent skills and values of the youth and center their self-proclaimed needs to provide necessary support.
We work with children and families through the NYS Office of Mental Health and Department of Health and provide services in Suffolk, Nassau, Queens, and Brooklyn to provide HCBS and CFTSS, community-based services that help our clients engage in their community and take charge of their education, their work, and their life. The youth we work with range from 0-21 years old. As of September 2024, we have provided over 35,000 unique visits to over 640 families across the four counties that we serve, and have hosted multiple fundraisers and galas to raise money for children's mental health.
