The Path to Freedom Campaign was born from a deeply personal struggle—my son, Quadare. Watching him navigate the aftermath of his father’s release shattered me in ways I never expected. No one prepares families for what happens after incarceration—the emotional distance, the unspoken pain, the walls built by years of separation.
I have seen firsthand how the lack of mental health support for returning citizens doesn’t just affect them—it ripples through their children, their partners, and their communities. It leaves families grappling with confusion, resentment, and silence instead of healing. And for those reentering society, the challenges of finding employment, housing, and a sense of purpose can be overwhelming. The weight of rejection, financial instability, and unresolved trauma often leads to depression—or worse, suicidal despair.
I know this struggle intimately—not just as a mother but as a domestic violence survivor. I understand what it means to rebuild from brokenness, to fight for healing when the world offers no roadmap. And I refuse to let my son, or any other family, walk this path alone.
The Path to Freedom Campaign is my commitment to breaking this cycle. We are not just advocating for reform—we are creating real, tangible tools to help returning citizens heal, reconnect, and thrive. We are giving families the resources they need to rebuild trust, to communicate, and to find their way back to each other.
This is more than a campaign—it’s a movement. A movement to rewrite the story of reentry, to prevent another family from being torn apart, and to give those impacted by incarceration a real chance at healing.
