    LULAC National Educational Service Centers (LNESC) was established in 1973 by the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) to provide direct educational services to underserved communities throughout the US & Puerto Rico. LNESC serves more than 14,000 students each year, providing educational counseling, scholarships, mentorships, leadership development, and literacy and technology programs through its network of 16 educational centers.     Position Description

    LNESC seeks a Resource Development Intern for its national office in Washington, DC. The Resource Development Intern will be supporting full-time staff members in program support, resource development and event coordination. The position will focus on research, communication, special event planning, fundraising and database management. This position is excellent for anyone seeking exposure to the non-profit sector, specifically with education and leadership programs.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Conduct foundation and corporate donor prospect research to support efforts in growing revenue from new sources
    • Assist in preparation of funder proposals and program reports
    • Compile data, and compose narratives for use in program reports to funders and for internal records
    • Assist in gathering and analyzing information for programs, including data collection and entry on performance measures from online database
    • Prepare materials for presentations
    • Assist in event planning as part of a staff team
    • Assist in development of marketing materials, media outreach and website content for programs and special events
    • Document meetings and staff assignments, as well as record progress through assignment checklist and written reports
    • Organize data, content, pictures, images, videos, logos, anecdotes, testimonials and other relevant information to be used in reports, website or database sets
    • Organize and sort media assets within online platforms
    • Ensure all communication materials (graphics, social media posts, newsletters, press releases) are promptly and precisely archived within the server.
    • Serve as the final checkpoint for high-level newsletters and mailings before distribution by ensuring that formatting, embedded links, and media are consistent and functional.
    • Provide ad-hoc creative input and strategic support for social media content and external mailings to enhance messaging, design, and overall impact.
    • Provide administrative support as needed
    • Work and adhere to the mission of LNESC
    • Other duties as assigned

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Authorized to legally work in the United States
    • College Junior/Senior or grad student
    • Fields of study in education, communications, political science, or a related field is preferred, but not required.
    • Ability to handle multiple tasks and set priorities
    • Must be knowledgeable about efficient office practices and procedures, including virtual meetings
    • Must possess strong interpersonal skills
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills
    • Excellent writing, editing, and critical reading skills, as well as strong proficiency in internet research
    • Self-motivated and able to multi-task and meet a series of deadlines
    • Ability to demonstrate organizational skills with time constraints and varied workload
    • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Canva
    • Strong computer skills a plus (experience with content management systems, website maintenance, social media)
    • A high level of professionalism and discretion is required
    • Possess culture competency as it relates to the Latino community
