Founded in 1994, Outward Bound Costa Rica (OBCR) offers transformative experiential education programs that challenge participants through outdoor adventure, leadership development, and cultural immersion across Costa Rica and Panama.

Position Overview

Outward Bound Costa Rica, in partnership with Hurricane Island Outward Bound School (HIOBS), is seeking a Photography & Marketing Intern for Summer 2025. This internship is an opportunity to capture and create compelling visual content while assisting with student logistics during our high season. The role involves photography, video production, social media content creation, and administrative support. Interns will work both in the field and at our basecamp, engaging with students and instructors.

Key Responsibilities

• Capture high-quality photos and videos of students participating in adventure-based programs.
• Edit and organize course photos for marketing and student distribution.
• Assist in producing promotional videos and content for social media.
• Conduct student interviews for testimonials and storytelling.
• Lead post-production efforts, including editing, formatting, and exporting multimedia content.
• Assist with student arrivals, departures, and administrative support as needed.
• Collaborate with the OBCR Marketing & Digital Media Specialist and HIOBS Marketing Director.

Qualifications & Skills

• Strong photography and videography skills with a portfolio of work.
• Experience using Adobe Premiere Pro, Photoshop, Lightroom, Canva, and After Effects.
• Strong writing, proofreading, and social media content creation skills.
• Conversational Spanish is preferred but not required.
• Cultural sensitivity and ability to work in a dynamic, team-based environment.
• Interest in experiential education, study abroad, or outdoor adventure programs.
• Adaptability, attention to detail, and a positive attitude.
• Experience living or working abroad is a plus.

Additional Requirements

• Must be at least 21 years old.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Ability to pass a background check and pre-hire drug screening.

Compensation & Benefits

• Monthly stipend of $600 to cover basic living costs.
• Housing provided at OBCR’s basecamp with utilities included.
• Access to Outward Bound Costa Rica course activities and equipment for personal use.
• Note: Airfare to and from Costa Rica is not included.
