Overview
Turtle Island Restoration Network (TIRN) headquartered in California is a leading advocate for ocean protection and watershed species protection.
Position Summary
This is a six-month position. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis.
TIRN is seeking an enthusiastic, responsible, and creative person to design and execute a research project to determine the historical range of pronghorn (Antilocapra americana.)
The selected intern will work closely with the Executive Director and have the opportunity to interact with staff ecologists and an expert advisor.
This position is ideal for those looking to gain hands-on experience in historical ecology. You will learn about various aspect of environmental nonprofits.
Internship Roles & Responsibilities
- A technical degree or substantial coursework in ecology, wildlife biology, or related fields is required.
- Weekly or as-needed meetings to discuss progress.
- Possible fieldwork – to be determined.
Qualifications & Skills
- Proficiency in English.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and organize oneself.
- Knowledge of APIs, webpage technologies, and related technologies.
- Creative thinker and interest in helping to improve and develop new methods and ideas to accomplish goals.
Learning Objectives
The Historical Ecologist Internship will help you understand practical applications and best practice methods in the field. You will also learn about environmental nonprofit functioning, advocacy, California Wildlife and public lands management.
Terms
Salary: Unpaid
Location: This position is remote or onsite in Olema, West Marin County, California.
Starting Time: This is a six-month position, applications are reviewed and filled on a rolling basis.
Hours: Full-time (~ 20 hours/week.)
Benefits: We are happy to work with academic departments to ensure the internship meets requirements for academic credit.
