Headquarters of the organization are in Arusha;however, its programsare intended for the entire Tanzania mainland. Its mission is to un-wrap children, women and youth potential to enable innovative pursuanceof economic opportunities for improved social and economicwellbeing.

Purpose of Job: To increase the provision of funding streams to enable The Sote Initiative to carry out its objectsand increase opportunities for developing new and existingprojects.

Job Summary: The post holder will be responsible for raisingfunds for The Sote Initiative from community/local fundraising, grants/trusts and developing other key income streams: major donors, individuals giving and corporate. The post holderwill hold a strategic over view of The Sote Initiative’s fundraising needs and be a key playerin the organization’s marketing.

Reporting Line: The Fundraising Officerwill be accountable to Chief Executive Officer.

Duty Station: ArushaObjectives of this Role

• Promote awareness of the organization’s mission and work;
• Cultivate a networkof dedicated donors and volunteers;
• Spot new fundraising opportunities;
• Plan fundraising initiatives to help the organization meet financial goals;
• Form strong relationships with external stakeholders; and
• Ensure major donorsare satisfied and kept in the loop.

Duties and Responsibilities

Income Generation

• Research individuals, corporations, and foundations that are interested in gift giving;
• Developing and maintaining a database of donors/supporters of the organization;

• Effectively convey the organization’s mission, vision, and programs to potential donors;
• Manage, support and developimaginative fundraising activities, some of which will be events-based;
• Write grant applications and fundraising proposals;
• Strategize and successfully execute fundraising campaigns;
• Organize fundraising eventswhile overseeing teamsof volunteers;
• Manage a budgetand track whethergoals are being met;
• Inspire new supporters to raise money, while maintaining and developing relationships with existing supporters;
• Deliver presentations to interested groups and to attend fundraising events;
• Develop and broadencorporate support; and
• Develop and coordinate web-based fundraising including social media

Strategic Direction

• Maintain and update the fundraising and communications budgets, with the Finance and Administration Manager;
• Develop and update a strategic plan to guide fundraising activities and revenue generation; and
• Work in conjunction with the Chief Executive Officer and Finance and Administration Managerto have a good overallunderstanding of all revenue streams.

Administration

• Planning, budgeting and forecasting income;
• Preparation of fundraising report for board meetings;
• Maintaining the fundraising database and documents;
• Write and designorganisational materials;
• Contribute updates of fundraising eventsand activities for quarterly newsletters;
• Write appreciation letters and direct mails to supporters of the organization in collaboration with other team members;
• Network with other fundraisers and NGOs staff when possible;
• And as core assistant of the CEO and supporthim with ad hoc tasks;and
• Undertake any otherduties commensurate with the post.

General: The post-holder will be expectedto adhere to all organisational policies, including health and safety.

Flexibility: The role requires a willingness to work variablehours which will include occasional weekend and evening work.

Qualification and Experience;

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance or any Business-related field.
• At least one year of experience in business relatedworks
