    Internship Position

    Catalyst 2030 – A Global Movement of Social Change Innovators

    Launched at the World Economic Forum in January 2020, Catalyst 2030 is a global community of social entrepreneurs, funders and other social change innovators who believe collaborative action and bold, new strategies are needed to address the crises of our time.

    Joining forces with communities, governments, businesses, funders and others, Catalyst 2030 members are working toward changing systems at all levels. Cumulatively, members have already impacted the lives of millions, often with limited resources. Together, we envision the advancement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for all.

    About the Systems Learning Team

    The Systems Change Learning team stimulates an on-going evolution of a learning ecosystem from and for social innovators. Our primary goal is to provide rich opportunities for shared learning and nurture communities of practice. to shift the dominant culture and paradigms and enable structural and systemic change. Our team works closely with social entrepreneurs, innovators, government, civil society, and academics.

    With the complexity of systems change, the team brings together academics and social entrepreneurs to promote a sustainable culture of systems change, while advancing research, informing curricular offerings, and influencing practice, education, and policies. To learn how to achieve this change, the systems learning group develops Systems Learning Series focusing on diverse topics, builds communities of educators through the Academic Hubs, preparing to launch the Catalyst Academy certification programme, influences and supports research in the field and curates knowledge and resources.

    Catalyst 2030 offers the intern the opportunity to work with young people from various countries, and to challenge themselves within the context of a vibrant and growing organisation. The ideal candidate has the availability to work full time (40hs a week) with a background in social sciences, international development, business, nonprofit management or a related field.

    Responsibilities

    • Leading and coordinating systems change learning events and programmes as part of the Systems Change Learning series; overall project management including organising events focused on systems change learning between social entrepreneurs and peers, as well as events with academic researchers on topics that will assist the growth and scale of social ventures;
    • Contributing to the creation of documents and training materials for events and learning programmes.
    • Contributing to academic research projects undertaken in collaboration with various groups and partnerships within Catalyst 2030.
    • Contributing to the development of the Systems Change Learning Working Group, collaboration with the co-chairs and supporting member needs;
    • Supporting monthly group meetings at different stages, from calendar planning and agenda setting to taking minutes and sending follow-up emails;
    • Assisting with the development of the Catalyst Academy certification programme
    • Creating, editing and updating documents for various group purposes;
    • Coordinating relations with members within the Catalyst 2030 network;
    • Being an active part of the Systems Learning department, supporting the work of other teams when needed across the Catalyst 2030 Secretariat;
    • Assisting with projects including organising events focusing on systems change learning between social entrepreneurs and peers, which may include internal events like Catalysing Change week or external partner events.
    • Other ad hoc tasks.

    Requirements and Skills

    • Background in social sciences, international development, business, nonprofit management or a related field;
    • Experience with online event planning on Zoom required;
    • Experience with CRM platforms such as Salesforce preferable;
    • Technically savvy and able to learn to coordinate between several technology tools including Microsoft Office Suite;
    • Interest in communications, collaborations, event organising, and project management;
    • An active interest in global issues and challenges, their complexity and nuance;
    • Fluency in English, preference for another UN language;
    • Proactive in seeking out solutions and pre-empting challenges;
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in;
    • Proven organisational skills and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and across time zones;
    • Flexible with an open mind who can easily adapt to new tasks given at short notice;
    • Attention to details and willingness to learn from experience;
    • Desire to work collaboratively in a team, with a positive attitude and ability to rise to challenges;
    • Ability to work in a multicultural and global digital environment with cultural sensitivity.
