    Descrição

    Role description

We are looking for a creative problem-solver who thrives working in a fast-paced environment on a wide range of creative video projects. The ideal candidate for the Associate Producer internship position has a strong artistic eye for the way visuals tell and enhance a story, in addition to experience filming, producing, editing and distributing social video. If you're a self-motivated student or recent grad looking for experience in planning, filming, and editing narrative-style videos for social platforms, we'd love to meet you.

The Associate Producer will support the Content Producer with all aspects of video production and storytelling. As a key member of our media team, you’ll play a crucial role in capturing and crafting compelling narratives through video. This is an exciting opportunity to immerse yourself in the world of animal welfare and access to veterinary care, while honing your skills in visual storytelling.

    Qualifications

    • Videography Skills: Videography experience and a basic understanding of video production techniques. Most of the time, the Associate Producer will be working with small cameras like a phone or Go-Pro. Familiarity with visual and narrative storytelling techniques in film or journalism is a plus.
    • Video Editing Software Knowledge: Knowledge of video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut).
    • Organizational Skills: Ability to manage and organize large volumes of footage efficiently. Attention to detail in file management is crucial.
    • Creativity and Initiative: Strong storytelling skills and the ability to capture and convey emotional narratives through video.
    • Team Player: Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with our team and volunteers.
    • Passion for Animals: We’re animal lovers and hope you are too!

    Responsibilities

    • Videography: Attend and capture footage on projects where volunteers are scouting, trapping, and rescuing cats in the community, with a focus on creating a narrative-driven story. Your aim will be to document the journey from rescue to recovery, highlighting the emotional and impactful aspects of our work. Work will often take place outdoors and sometimes in challenging environments.
    • Situational Awareness: Navigate sometimes sensitive exchanges, and learn the organization’s ethos and language used to address topics specific to our work.
    • Visual Storytelling: Develop storylines and concepts for narrative-driven videos that showcase the impact of our rescue efforts. Collaborate with our team to ensure that the visuals align with our overall mission, and the message of the video.
    • Media Management: Upload and organize video footage to our digital asset management system. Ensure all files are labeled and stored correctly for easy access and future editing.
    • Editing and Post-Production: Assist in the editing process, including selecting the best shots, creating a cohesive narrative, and adding text as needed. While this role emphasizes filming, some post-production tasks may be required.

    Benefits

    • Hands-On Experience: Gain practical experience in videography and visual storytelling within a non-profit setting.
    • Behind-The-Scenes Exposure: A front row seat to social media pipeline planning.
    • Mentorship: Receive guidance from experienced professionals in both media and animal welfare.
    • Impactful Work: Contribute to meaningful projects that make a difference in the lives of rescued cats, and pets and pet owners.
    • Community Building: Experience filming and reporting in the field while engaging with Brooklynites.
    • Cuddle Sessions with Cats: Need we say more?

    Timing

October - January (start/end dates flex)

20-25 hours per week. Hours vary and depend on specific projects—often early mornings and evenings.
