    JOB SUMMARY:

    The main objectives of this internship are to conduct a funding landscape analysis, evaluate grant and financial partnership opportunities, and provide recommendations for a pathway towards successfully accessing those funding opportunities. This internship will identify a diverse range of possible funding sources to increase the opportunities to sustain or expand the Salvation Army’s anti-human trafficking efforts.

    Conduct a comprehensive analysis of potential funding opportunities, including government agencies or embassies, foundations, private sector initiatives, or other philanthropic institutions or individuals which align with specified thematic focus areas.

    • Anti-human trafficking and modern slavery
    • Integration and community cohesion for displaced people, including asylum seekers and refugees
    • Support for vulnerable people involved in sex work or transitioning out of it
    • Cross-cutting donor interests such as child protection, gender equality, or migration where donor interests connect to the target populations.

    Identify key funding histories/trends and priorities, including as they relate to purpose of the award, size of awards, type of recipient of the award, and required or preferred policies or practices for managing the award.

    Highlight opportunities for multi-year and flexible funding that support comprehensive and sustainable programming.

    Develop a detailed mapping of potential funders, including application processes, funding cycles and timelines, eligibility criteria, nature of monitoring/compliance, and contact details.

    Review a selection of The Salvation Army’s (TSA’s) relevant projects for their current structure, activities, and alignment with donor priorities.

    Provide recommendations to improve the program’s competitiveness and alignment with identified funding opportunities and ensure organizational readiness to be able to receive and implement identified funding sources.

    Deliver a practical strategy with a prioritized list of potential funding sources, including a timeline and actionable steps for engagement and proposal development.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

    REQUIRED:

    Excellent research and analytical skills.

    • To find relevant information, apply analytical skills and synthesis large amounts of information into clear, actionable insights.

    Excellent strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.

    • To understand fundraising strategies, donor segmentation and funding diversification; to identify gaps and opportunities and to make recommendations based on the data and trends.

    Excellent communication skills.

    • To summarize complex information into clear deliverables, etc.
    • Experience in creating briefs or presentations to capture key findings or recommendations.

    Data management and organization skills.

    • To manage the various data gathered to allow for easy access and use of the information and ensure attention to detail for organizing the information.

    Understanding of philanthropy and fundraising

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

    Understanding of international development.

    Understanding or interest in issues of modern slavery/human trafficking, asylum seekers and refugees, and/or displaced populations.

    Understanding of philanthropy and funding strategies or mechanisms.

    Experience in program assessment and development.

    Experience in program assessment and development.

    Experience in donor mapping, fundraising or resource mobilization in the non-profit sector.

    MENTAL AND PHYSICAL ABILITIES

    Ability to read, write, and effectively communicate in English

    Additional European languages are an asset.

    Summer Internship Duration: May 12 - July 25
