Way Finders is currently seeking an AmeriCorps Digital Inclusion VISTA. The Digital Inclusion VISTA will advance digital equity and inclusion by building the capacity of residents to access and navigate digital tools.

The goal is to mitigate the effects of the digital divide for low-income families, older adults, Black and Latino residents, homeless individuals, and people who are participating in Way Finders Resident Leadership programs, Community Advocate programs, or live in Way Finders properties, but have been adversely affected by lack of digital access. The Digital Inclusion VISTA will organize educational workshops, training opportunities, and support the Connect Hampden County Coalition, a digital equity group of resident leaders who are seeking to advance equity in all areas of access, which includes digital tools and devices, Broadband Internet, literacy training, and policies.

Responsibilities include:

• Engage residents in advancing digital equity
• Expand the team of Digital Equity Advocates to support the Connect Hampden County Coalition
• Improve access to affordable and reliable internet connection for the greater community
• Organize digital literacy trainings and assess needs of residents related to digital equity and inclusion
• Strengthen digital literacy and digital equity advocacy programs by researching best practices and evaluating the effectiveness of digital equity programs

Hiring Requirements/Preferences

• Strong digital technology skills with the ability to train/mentor others in developing a meaningful skill level that is transferable to updates and new technologies
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Enthusiasm for advocacy work
• Ability to multi-task, manage priorities, and work both independently and as part of a team
• Bilingual skills (English/Spanish) preferred but not required

AmeriCorps VISTAs receive a living allowance, and an educational award or cash stipend at the end of the year.
