Organizational Context
The UX Programmer/Developer Intern will join the Communications Unit at the Regional Bureau for Latin America and the Caribbean (RBP). The Unit is responsible for promoting the impact of WFP's mission and work, as well as its brand, across the region.
The Communications Unit manages communications, advocacy and marketing, using traditional media, campaigns, events, the WFP website and social media platforms in Spanish. Three regional priorities include emergency preparedness and response, climate change adaptation, and social protection to reach zero hunger. In addition, the Unit supports communications focal points in Country Offices in the Caribbean, Central America and South America.
Job Purpose:
The UX Programmer/Developer intern will focus on coding and implementing front-end solutions optimizing user experience on WFP’s digital communication platforms, in collaboration with the Communications Unit. Reporting directly to the Communications Regional Officer, the intern will support back-end, UX/UI, and web development improvements across platforms and assist in aligning these tools with WFP’s communication objectives.

Requirements and Qualifications:
Education: Candidates should be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program at a recognized university, with a focus on UX/UI Design, Computer Science, Web Development, Software Engineering, Communication Design, or related fields. Applicants must have attended classes in the last 12 months and completed at least two years of undergraduate studies. Recent graduates (up to 6 months) are eligible to apply.
Language Requirements
Fluent in Spanish and English working level C.
Terms and Conditions
Interns will be paid a monthly stipend as a contribution towards basic subsistence costs. The amount payable is the equivalent of 14% of the daily subsistence allowance in Panama (currently $32.2 for each day worked).
All internships are in-person (non-remote). The internship is on a full-time basis in accordance with the working schedule of the WFP office.
