    Descrição

The National Low Income Housing Coalition (NLIHC) works to achieve racially and socially equitable public policy that ensures people with the lowest incomes have quality homes that are accessible and affordable in communities of their choice. NLIHC seeks an intern to assist with the work lead by the IDEAS (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, Anti-racism, and Systems-thinking) team. The IDEAS team works to ensure that NLIHC centers equity in our research, policy, and advocacy priorities. The intern will work closely with the Project Manager for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion to develop and carry out NLIHC’s racial equity plan, this includes assisting with coordinating meetings with NLIHC’s teams to ensure IDEAS is centered in their priorities and helping to foster and build new connections with external partners.

Intern responsibilities include but are not limited to:

    • Tracking latest articles, reports, and other creative platforms or mediums that highlight key issues relevant to the work of IDEAS especially relating to Native American/Tribal housing issues, migrant housing, and other issues that intersect between racial justice and housing.
    • Build out the IDEAS Exchange, a communication platform that aims to foster community with NLIHC’s partners, and share resources.
    • Assist with developing materials for the IDEAS webpage, including additional resources, guides, white papers, reports and more.
    • Support the IDEAS team on cross-team collaboration efforts that include developing policy advocacy materials, toolkits, and other materials that center racial equity and housing justice.
    • Collaborate with Project Manager for DEI and others on the team to create new projects, support ongoing project efforts, including an organizational framework for racial equity, developing a training schedule for staff, and identifying new potential partnerships.

The IDEAS team seeks an intern with strong written and oral communications skills, strong organizational skills, a demonstrated commitment to racial equity, social justice, innovation, and creativity. Direct service and community engagement experience is highly valued.

Interested students should submit their resume, writing sample, and cover letter to Gabby Ross via email at: gross@nlihc.org.
