Our flagship Ready, Willing & Able (RWA) program provides paid transitional work experience, transitional housing, advanced occupational training, and comprehensive supportive services to individuals experiencing homelessness. The Doe Fund is also one of New York City’s largest nonprofit developers of permanent affordable and supportive housing, with more than 1,900 units in operation or pre-development. The Doe Fund has an annual operating budget of $73 million and a full-time staff of nearly 500, a significant portion of whom are graduates of our programs.

    We are currently seeking a Social Services Aide to join our dynamic team at our Gates Avenue facility in Brooklyn.

    The Ideal Candidate:

    • You will have earned a High School Diploma
    • You have at least two years of experience working in a residential setting.
    • You have experience working with the homeless and/or criminal justice population and knowledge of related issues preferred.
    • You are skilled in MS Office and email. Familiarity with database systems, particularly the DHS CARES system preferred.
    • You must be Fire Guard, Fire Safety, and CPR & First Aid certified.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • The Social Services Aides function as social services paraprofessionals and need to possess the skills to successfully address any problems, issues or crises that might occur.
    • Supervise the security staff during his/her tour of duty to ensure the safety and comfort of the residents.
    • Communicate important clinical information to the staff by documenting details in a log book. Also responsible for documenting incidents on an incident report and disseminating it to the team.
    • Responsible for collecting random urine samples from residents.
    • Attends all mandatory monthly staff meetings.
