    We are looking for an Organizer who is excited to build power with and for working families of all backgrounds, races, and genders. Are you that person?

    About us:

    The Service Employees International Union Local 925 (SEIU 925) is 19,000 working people united to improve our jobs and our communities. We are education workers and public sector workers across Washington state. We are childcare providers, K-12 classified staff, higher education workers, adjunct professors, public defenders and county employees.

    Applicants should have a passion for building power with workers, organizing, and the mission of SEIU Local 925. The work will mostly be based in the Seattle area, but may include other turf. This is a full-time position working with a diverse membership based out of Seattle. A driver’s license and a car are required.

    Job Opening: Organizer

    Identify, recruit, and develop strong worker leaders, and be a resource while they form new unions in their worksites. Work to further 925 becoming an anti-racist organization through understanding and applying a racial justice lens to all aspects and stages of a campaign. Identify and develop new organizing campaigns that support current 925 membership. Consult with and develop worker leaders in all aspects of building power through a first contract campaign.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The Organizer performs a wide range of duties, including:

    1. Identify, recruit, and develop worksite leaders;
    2. Develop and lead growth organizing campaigns, working in person, remotely, and hybrid as the situation demands;
    3. Ensure that campaigns are moving the interests of all workers through consistent application of the racial justice lens at all stages of a campaign;
    4. As part of a team, assist in developing strategy and tactics for building power in worksites. Work with team members to develop innovative techniques for organizing in varied ways, including hybrid and remote settings;
    5. Plan and implement training of organizing committee leaders;
    6. Participate in public policy activity as assigned, such as legislative and political work;
    7. Represent the Union in community and labor coalition activities.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    1. Ability to inspire and motivate workers, Member Organizers and staff.
    2. Ability to work independently and think outside the box.
    3. Effective oral and written communication skills.
    4. Ability to exercise high level of judgment.
    5. Ability to work well with diverse people and function as part of a team.
    6. Computer, database, and remote technology capability preferred.
    7. Willingness to be flexible around scheduling and to work beyond the 9-5, M-F norm
