    OPPORTUNITY

    Green Dot Public Schools is seeking an Associate Director of Professional Growth to design and implement career advancement and learning opportunities for staff across the network, from teachers and paraprofessionals to central office team members. This role will focus on building engaging, meaningful professional development experiences, establishing clear career paths, and fostering a culture of continuous learning. Collaboration with leaders across the organization will ensure all employees have the support needed to thrive. Based in our downtown Los Angeles offices, this role is intended to bring cohesion to professional growth across the network. This role reports to the Chief People Officer.

    IDEAL CANDIDATE

    The ideal candidate for this role will have a vision for strong adult learning arcs and programs, be able to build relationships, influence and motivate others, lead cross-functional initiatives, and project-manage senior leaders and content experts within a complex organization. They are not expected to be a content expert in all school-based and home office roles, but rather a skilled project manager who can work alongside content experts to design career paths and development opportunities for each employee group. The ideal candidate will possess strong

    leadership skills, a deep understanding of adult learning principles, and a passion for fostering a culture of continuous growth and development.

    ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

    Evaluate the Professional Growth Needs Across the Organization

    • Conduct a needs assessment to identify skill gaps and opportunities for each employee group;
    • Conduct an assessment of current learning and professional development structures across the organization, codify these practices, and make recommendations for improvements;
    • Research and design AI-driven strategies to enhance professional development;
    • Stay abreast of industry best practices and trends in professional development and talent management.

    Develop a Strong Performance Management System

    • Create personalized learning paths with relevant training, workshops, and mentorship opportunities;
    • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to deliver engaging and high-impact learning experiences;
    • Ensure consistent implementation of performance management practices across teams.

    Utilize Data to Inform Professional Development

    • Establish evaluation systems to measure the effectiveness of development initiatives;
    • Maintain, optimize, and update the evaluation platform (School Mint, formerly Whetstone);
    • Analyze performance data to identify trends, strengths, and areas for improvement.
    • Coordinate performance appraisal processes to provide constructive feedback and support individual growth;
    • Monitor and maintain contractual compliance about coaching and evaluation;
    • Support negotiation strategy with Asociación De Maestros Unidos (AMU), Green Dot's teachers union, and Animo Classified Evaluation Association (ACEA), Green Dot’s classified union, to ensure alignment with the vision for professional growth.

    Facilitate Career Path Planning

    • Work closely with Human Capital and Human Resources to define structured career progression opportunities;
    • Provide guidance and support to employees and their managers in setting career goals and creating actionable development plans;
    • Adjust career pathways as organizational needs and individual aspirations evolve.

    Strengthen Mentorship and Coaching Programs

    • Ensure employees have access to mentors and coaches for ongoing growth and skill-building;
    • Provide training and resources to mentors and coaches to ensure effectiveness in their roles;
    • Support the codification of resources provided for intervention and improvement as part of the formal evaluation cycles.

    Manage and Support Teacher Induction

    • Coach and develop the Induction Coordinator, who reports to the Associate Director of Professional Growth;
    • Sit on the Green Dot Public Schools Induction Advisory Committee;
    • Support the management of the program.

    • Communication and Collaboration Skills: Excellent communication and collaboration skills are necessary to effectively interact with teachers, administrators, classified school sites, and central office team members.
    • Data Analysis Skills: Proficiency in collecting and analyzing data to assess the effectiveness of professional development programs is increasingly important. This includes using assessment data, student achievement data, and other metrics to inform decision-making.
    • Vision and Innovation: The ability to think creatively, develop innovative solutions, and envision the future of professional growth in education is valuable for driving positive change within the district.
    • Technology Proficiency: Proficiency in using performance management software, Human Resources Information Systems, and other technology tools is beneficial. This includes the ability to effectively use technology to streamline processes, track performance data, and generate reports.
    • Change and Project Management Skills: The ability to lead and manage change related to performance management initiatives is important. This includes effectively communicating changes, addressing resistance, and facilitating the adoption of new processes and tools.
    • Knowledge of Educational Theory and Practice: A strong understanding of current trends, research, and best practices in education is crucial. This includes knowledge of adult learning theory and effective methods for supporting educator growth.

    5+ Years of Leadership Experience: Direct experience designing, implementing, and evaluating professional development programs for educators and school system staff is highly valuable.

    Education: A bachelor's degree is required. A master's degree in fields such as business administration, human resources, organizational psychology, or education administration or leadership is strongly preferred.

    Additional Requirements:

    • You will need to pass a TB test and background check at the time of offer.
    • Occasional travel to school sites may be required.
