    The State Organizer for Reproductive Equity Now is responsible for developing a comprehensive field and volunteer engagement plan in the state to achieve the organization’s education, legislative, and electoral goals. Reporting to the State Director, the State Organizer will represent the organization in state coalitions and at organizing and volunteer events.

    Key Responsibilities

    Area #1: Organizing to Educate Communities on Reproductive Equity

    • Organize and host educational events across the state to train community members and volunteers on how to talk about reproductive equity, resources to access reproductive health care, including abortion, information on how to identify anti-abortion centers, and ways they can mobilize their cities and towns around reproductive equity
    • In coordination with other state organizers, lead and organize monthly Abortion Access Advocate trainings. Continue to build the program’s membership through targeted recruitment and volunteer engagement
    • Create strategic programming to address the organization’s legislative needs, electoral work, or breaking news impacting reproductive equity, in addition to educating volunteers on reproductive equity issues more broadly
    • Build trusting relationships with community partners and frontline social service providers, including but not limited to, domestic violence shelters, recovery organizations, immigration organizations, and professional organizations, to share Reproductive Equity Now tools and resources
    • Serve as one of the organization's liaisons with various constituents through in-person relationship building, attendance at community events, and coalition meetings
    • Set and meet benchmarks for activist engagement, volunteer recruitment, and education and outreach

    Area #2: Organizing to Advocate for a Reproductive Equity Agenda

    • Work collaboratively with the State Director to support or enhance the organization’s legislative agenda, including:
      • Overseeing member and volunteer mobilization in support of legislative campaigns;
      • Driving turnout to lobby days, rallies, and other strategic activities;
      • Organizing community-based, issue-focused events; and
      • Leveraging tools, like phone dialers, text banks, and action pages, to mobilize constituents to contact their legislators

    Area #3: Organizing to Build Electoral Power Around Reproductive Equity

    • Ensure implementation of Reproductive Equity Now’s state electoral plan by mobilizing communities to vote for pro-repro candidates up and down the ballot
    • In collaboration with the State Director, identify which districts and races to target with organizing efforts to make the most significant electoral impact
    • In collaboration with State Director, potentially carry out Reproductive Equity Now’s state candidate endorsement process, including managing the Endorsement Committee, coordinating with and supporting candidates, and collaborating with the communications team on endorsement roll outs
    • Elevate reproductive equity as a key voting issue through community conversations and events
    • Coordinate with the communications team to execute digital electoral organizing efforts

    Qualifications

    • Commitment to protecting and advancing reproductive equity and health care access
    • Ability to plan and execute organizing events
    • Political campaign experience is strongly preferred, although not necessary if the candidate is able to demonstrate capacity to quickly acquire political campaign skills and to cultivate relationships within the state’s political community
    • Exceptional attention to detail and can work quickly without sacrificing quality of output
    • Proven ability to work independently and in a team to solve problems
    • Clear, concise written and oral communication skills
    • Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends, particularly during peak legislative and electoral seasons

    Location

    The State Organizer is a hybrid position, with New England travel required to meet with other REN staff as needed. Candidates must be located in the state where they work and will be expected to commute to events across the state regularly to meet the needs of the role.

    Compensation and Benefits

    The State Organizer is a full-time, 40-hour per week, exempt position. The salary range is $60,000 - $65,000 in addition to a generous benefits package including comp time, health and dental insurance, and a retirement account with employer match.
