    Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

    This position holds three primary buckets of responsibilities: Collaborate with the Senior Director of Operations and Executive Director and help set and guide the strategic vision and growth of the organization; oversee and supervise all programs and program directors to ensure we are enhancing programming and expanding offerings for youth; and oversee and execute program administration to ensure that the daily work is smooth and contributes to organizational excellence.

    Organizational Leadership

    • Serve as a thought partner to the Executive Director and Senior Director of Operations with an eye towards program expansion and enhancement.
    • Turn strategic goals into actionable steps and guide the team to implement those steps.
    • Partner with the Executive Director and Senior Director of Operations to implement, track, and evaluate strategic plan priorities and goals to ensure progress towards achieving the 5-year strategic plan.
    • Provide new ideas to the Executive Director and Senior Director of Operations for how to improve and grow programs and lead execution of those ideas.
    • Create and lead engaging staff days for all King Street Center staff to build organizational culture and staff competencies.
    • Communicate on an ongoing basis with community partners; participate in community meetings as an agency representative.
    • Interact with the Board of Directors, regularly attending board meetings, presenting to the Board, and staffing the Program Committee of the Board.

    Program Oversight

    • Initiate and set goals for programs based on the potential for growth and alignment with the organization’s strategic objectives.
    • Supervise all King Street Center Program Directors and their programs, ensuring alignment with quality measures, compliance goals, growth targets, and strategic initiatives.
    • Partner with Program Directors to identify goals for the school year and provide support and accountability to guide Program Directors reach their goals.
    • Hold Program Directors and their teams accountable for achieving defined program outcomes.
    • Provide mentorship and coaching to Program Directors to help them achieve defined outcomes and implement strategic initiatives.
    • Provide an ongoing analysis of programs to determine how to make continuous improvements.
    • Collaborate with the Program Directors to build out new programs in their respective departments.
    • Create, implement, and evaluate enrollment strategies to maximize participation in each program.
    • Build, implement, and maintain an equity lens into all programs.
    • Oversee and support annual and long-term planning for programs from start to finish, including identifying processes, deadlines and milestones and holding people accountable to achieving goals.
    • Participate, if needed, when a program is short staffed.

    Program Administration

    • Manage the daily administration of multiple and varied types of programs simultaneously, being able to problem solve and pivot in the moment to keep KSC operational.
    • Oversee the coordination of meals and transportation, including supervision of the meals program coordinator.
    • Plan proactively for openings on the team and partner with the HR Manager to develop effective recruiting strategies.
    • Implement, monitor, and evaluate program development for continuous improvement and state licensing compliance.
    • Participate in developing the annual budget and long-term budgets
    • Regularly monitor and approve program budget expenses and collaborate with program directors to ensure programs are within budget
    • Oversee daily administration needs of programming, including calendar development and staff training.
    • Plan, lead, and participate in staff days, program meetings and leadership team meetings.
    • Partner with the Senior Director of Operations to ensure safety plans, policies, and practices are up-to-date and reflect current best practices.
    • Implement policies, systems, and procedures, including internal communications, that will improve day-to-day operations of programs.
    • Participate in organization events.
    • Support when needed on grant writing and development tasks.

    Qualifications & Experience:

    • Must possess a BA, BS and have one of the following:
      • at least twenty months direct work experience with school age children or
      • Vermont Afterschool Professional Credential or
      • Vermont Program Director Credential or
      • Vermont Teacher Licensure or
      • Master’s Degree in a youth-related field
    • Minimum of 5 years experience in program administration and people management
    • Must pass a criminal background check through the VT Child Care Development Division
    • Must have a valid driver's license and pass a motor vehicle report
    • Demonstrated knowledge of equity, especially racial equity, and how to implement equity principles into youth programming.
    • Experience working with low-income communities and immigrant, refugee and BIPOC youth and families is required.

    Physical Requirements & Conditions of Work:

    Position carried out primarily in a comfortable office setting. Regular local travel to offsite meetings required. Interaction with children and families who at times exhibit some instability in their behavior. Some potential for risks to physical safety and security of facility. Minimal heavy lifting and no strenuous activity required; reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position.

    Employment Details:

    Employment Type: Full-time, Salaried, 40 hours/week

    Salary range: $75,000-82,000
