    SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

    The Child Care Specialist is a new role within NMIC’s Benefits Unit that will work with our highly skilled and experienced, interdisciplinary team to provide childcare subsidies to families with undocumented children in Manhattan and the Bronx.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Conduct client intakes in NMIC’s ClientTrack database system.
    • Conduct screenings for existing childcare program eligibility and new Child Care Assistance Services program eligibility.
    • Complete and submit applications for child care subsidies.
    • Help clients find and enroll eligible children with a childcare provider and obtain confirmation of enrollment and related costs from the childcare provider.
    • Maintain an active caseload, including tracking relevant deadlines and proper client communication.
    • Maintain daily and consistent case notes and status updates in NMIC’s ClientTrack database.
    • Organize and maintain client files in compliance with grant, reporting, and ethical requirements.
    • Support program manager and other NMIC staff to ensure ongoing issuance of subsidies and verification of subsidy payments.
    • Attend department and agency-wide meetings as scheduled.

    Other duties as assigned.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bilingual in English/Spanish (both written and verbal) is required.
    • Ability to enter and review information in online systems and databases.
    • Knowledge of working with diverse and underserved communities preferred.
    • Demonstrated computer/technology literacy.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to maintain consistently positive interactions with all members of the public.
    • Excellent office management and organizational skills.
    • Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
    • Proven ability to work collaboratively and to interact with management and program staff.

    SALARY/BENEFITS:

    NMIC offers a competitive salary based on experience and education as well as a comprehensive and generous benefits package: medical, dental, life, and disability insurance are included; paid time off, including 20 vacation days, 15 sick days, 5 personal days, and 12 agency holidays; a 401k with agency contribution; and other benefits.

    The salary for the position is $60,000.
