    Descrição

    Jesuit Refugee Service/USA

The mission of Jesuit Refugee Service/USA (JRS/USA) is to accompany, serve, and advocate the cause of refugees and other forcibly displaced persons, that they may heal, learn and determine their own future. JRS works in 58 countries worldwide to meet the educational, health, psycho-social, and emergency needs of more than 1.25 million refugees and other forcibly displaced persons, regardless of race, ethnic origin, or religious beliefs.

    Job Description

Reporting to the President, the Vice President of Development (VPD) is directly responsible for all the organization's private fundraising and development activities. The VPD serves as the chief development officer for JRS/USA in close association with the JRS/USA Board of Directors and the JRS International Office, and leads in the creation and implementation of a global fundraising strategic plan for the global operation.

The Vice President of Development leads a team of development professionals in the execution and rapid expansion of a $9 million annual private fundraising budget within USA, an essential contribution to JRS global fundraising efforts from all sectors totaling more than $100 million. The VPD plays a lead role in inspiring, guiding, integrating, and enhancing strategic and coordinated fundraising strategies and programs across the department. This position will serve as a senior organizational leader who engages closely with donors and the public, promoting respect for others and acceptance of disparate ideas. As a principal fundraiser for JRS as the Jesuits’ primary international ministry, the VPD celebrates the role of both faith-based and lay populations and organizations in service to the world’s displaced.

    Responsibilities

    • Prepare and implement timely fundraising plans for JRS/USA that address the organization’s strategic plan and JRS's global fundraising needs.
    • Create, implement, and monitor a fully articulated prospective stakeholder and donor pipeline for long-term growth and support of the JRS global mission.
    • Undertake supervisory responsibilities for a team of 6-8 fundraising professionals in the execution of a diversified development strategy — including, but not exclusive to, major and individual giving, foundations, legacy, subscription, and CFC — for the organization with the achievement of annual fundraising goals.
    • Provide vision, leadership, and strategy for sustainable financial growth with a balance of restricted and unrestricted private funds. Provide leadership in continually cultivating prospective and current donors to deepen commitment to JRS and support gift officers for donors at all levels.
    • Lead stewardship efforts with donors at all levels in order to increase donor retention and enhance donor engagement and moves management.
    • Widen and deepen institutional partnerships with private foundations and corporations.
    • Execute budgetary responsibility for multiple programs and projects involving the development team. Manage significant and complex programs and budgets, including all fundraising software and donor databases.
    • Strictly adhere to financial oversight with the Chief Financial Officer on all private donor funds and maintain the JRS/USA gift acceptance policy.
    • Manage many external relationships that have a high-value impact on key donor relationships.
    • Liaise with US and field-based Program Teams to compile global funding needs to inform restricted and unrestricted fundraising, and orchestrate a bi-annual RFP cycle for designated unrestricted support of projects.
    • Collaborate with Communications and Outreach teams to develop and mobilize key donor materials, campaigns, and special events. Effectively translate JRS program offerings into compelling narratives, building a strong case for financial support to donors.
    • Engage as member of JRS/USA Senior Management Team. Coordinate across the organization at the senior levels with other departmental Vice Presidents to ensure alignment and support for fulfilling the JRS/USA mission.
    • Report on the status of annual fundraising goals and strategic outlook of development efforts to the President and JRS/USA Board of Directors.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in relevant field required. Master's preferred.
    • 10-15 years of progressive experience in the field of fundraising, including a proven track record in securing five, six, and seven-figure gifts. Extensive knowledge of the philanthropic landscape in the United States.
    • Flexibility and adaptability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
    • Commitment to operate with the highest-level degree of integrity and accountability to private funders and to adhere to the Donor Bill of Rights.
    • Minimum of three years of experience in a director-level role with supervisory responsibilities.
    • Strong interpersonal skills and communication skills. Experience in effectively engaging with senior management, the Board of Directors, and other partners.
    • Knowledge of and experience with CRM/Salesforce/Blackbaud.
    • Interest in and willingness to travel, including international travel.
    • Strong public speaking and written communication skills.
    • Experience with migration, refugee, and asylum issues and programs is a plus.
    • Experience with faith-based organizations and Jesuit networks is a plus.
