    About The Commons Project Foundation

    Oversee all DJYH's Financial Management, including but not limited to:

    Financial Oversight & Budget Management

     Develop and Manage Budgets – Create, monitor, and update program budgets, ensuring alignment with funding guidelines.

     Budget Forecasting & Analysis – Provide financial projections, variance analysis, and recommend budget adjustments as needed to program leadership.

     Expenditure Tracking – Monitor program spending to ensure it remains within budget and follows financial policies.

     Financial Compliance – Ensure adherence to internal financial controls, funding requirements, and donor guidelines.

     Cash Flow Management - Update funds balance on daily basis and ensure there is sufficient cash to support the project.

     Funding Requests and Disbursements - Create and manage funding requests for the program to the DJYH Fund Manager, including for TCP US and TCP Africa and for all partners, ensuring compliance with request guidelines and approved budgets, monitor subsequent disbursements

     Vendor Payments - Process vendor invoices and payments.

     Liaise with Accounting and Bookkeeping team on categorizing programmatic expenses.

    Reporting & Documentation

     Collect Financial Reports from Partners – Gather, review, and consolidate financial reports from program partners.

     Prepare Reports for Funders – Develop and submit financial reports, invoices, and budget justifications as required by funders.

     Reconcile Financial Data – Ensure consistency between program expenditures, accounting records, and reporting data.

     Maintain Accurate Financial Records – Organize and archive documentation for audits, compliance checks, and future reference.

    Stakeholder Coordination & Compliance

     Coordinate with Program & Finance Teams – Work closely with program managers, accountants, and leadership to align financial management with program goals.

     Ensure Partner Compliance – Monitor partners’ financial reporting and spending to ensure they comply with funding terms.

     Audit & Risk Management Support – Assist with internal and external audits, addressing any financial risks or compliance issues.

     Funder Communication – Act as the primary point of contact for program partners regarding financial matters, responding to inquiries and clarifications.

    Education & Experience

    • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
    • CPA, CMA, or equivalent financial certification preferred.
    • Minimum 5+ years of experience in financial management, budgeting, and reporting, preferably in a nonprofit or grant-funded organization.
    • Experience working with funding agencies, donors, or grant management is highly desirable.
    • Regional Financial Expertise – Familiarity with financial regulations, compliance requirements, and funding landscapes in African countries.

    Technical Skills

    • Proficiency in QuickBooks for financial tracking, reporting, and reconciliation.
    • Strong knowledge of GAAP accounting principles and their application in financial management.
    • Expertise in budget development, financial forecasting, and variance analysis.
    • Experience with cash flow management, vendor payments, and disbursement processes.
    • Familiarity with grant and donor compliance requirements, including financial controls and reporting.
    • Ability to prepare and review financial reports, invoices, and budget justifications for funders.
