Are you looking to use your research, social media, or marketing skills to create what could potentially be one of the most powerful social change tools for 2025 and beyond,--for saving the planet, overturning fascist governments, for economic justice? If so, we are looking for a committed researcher or social media talent.

OneLiner Description:

AdoptAnOrganizer (AAO). Think GoFundMe meets Mutual-Aid meets “Find a Patron”

Our Goal: Provide the minimu 1000 more fulltime and half time organizers the Resistance and ClimateJustice Movements needs to have a realistic chance of success

AAO will be a far better alternative than the leading relevant crowdfunding apps today (GoFundMe and Indigogo or Kickstarter) to enable people who want to become fulltime or part-time activists (organizers, tech help, SM or media directors, etc) for the most urgently needed campaigns of our time (or want to start their own). Unfortunately, these campaigns almost always lack the funds to hire the all the part time and/or fulltime organizers they need to succeed. More specifically, AAO will therefore enable applicants to be able to 1) get donated housing and then 2) after crowdfunding an additional small trigger cash amount ($300-700). be able to be matched with a patron from a pool of well-off matching donors (estimated at $1000-1250 match donation per mo) to cover their other basic living expenses, so they can then quit their meaningless job and volunteer fulltime for their favorite campaign which lacks the funds to hire them. Funding would continue a minimum of 3 months but likely much longer if you are generating rave reviews from your superviser. If only halftime organizer, the match would be half.

PRIMARY DUTIES

1) Determining what percentage (we hope at least 3-5% of a minimum 400 worker sample) of people working in meaningless jobs like in coffee shops, fast foot convenience shops, etc would love to quit and become organizers if there was an app that made that feasible. Note: In actual pracice, we only need one tenth of one percent of these workers to use AAO to leave their job and become organizer, since there are at least 1Million such workers in these sorts of jobs). So we are being very conservative if we can verify 3-5%.

Note: We interpret "organizer" broadly to include any of the key roles necessary for a campaign to succeed, ranging from door to door grassroots canvassing or recruiting, to outreach speaker at schools, religious institutions, and civic clubs, to social media. to small and large donor fundraising to data analyst, programmer, designer, nonviolent resistance trainer, jail support, ,etc.

2)and to also find out from at least 20-30 interviews with workers desiring such an app what what features they would most need to see (that would be most desired) in the app to love and use it.

TWO OPTIONS DUTYWISE FOR THE SAME POSITION

OPTION 1 This can be done either by store to store interviewing in 2 phases: initially just 2-3min, to then set up via zoom or phone 10-15min interviews, people who work in coffee shops and other meaningless jobs who have a burning desire to instead work for a cause that fights some major injustice (eg cost of housing, destruction of the planet by the oil and gas industries, grotesque wealth inequality, low worker wages, the current fascist take-over).

OPTION 2 OR it can be done via savvy use of social media, probably Instagram. If you prefer the social media route, be sure to explain your plan

QUALIFICATIONS: besides loving our project

1. Great at interviewing and note-taking (for Option one)

Or Great at social media (for Option 2)

1. Reliable, detail-oriented, and punctual mas o menos 10mins
2. Self-starter: We hugely appreciate seeing initiative and receiving pushback; we aim to run as a collective
3. Perseverant at following up!
4. Must have strong attention to detail and eager to improve his/her own skills
5. Major plus: You like networking and willing to do it on your own, and good at taking initiative
6. Can start immediately

HOURS: Hours are flexible, the project coordinator is based in Philadelphia/DC. We prefer at least 4hrs/day, which can include Saturday and/or Sunday.

LOCATION OPTIONS: You can be anywhere if you choose the social media option.

If you choose the first face2face interviewing option, you need to be in a major city in a Purple state (eg, Texas, Florida, Ohio, Arizona, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Michigan. Also willing to consider Missouri or Nebraska)

COMPENSATION: Negotiable (hopefully starting at least $17-22/hr and possibly higher after 2-3 months, plus $30-$100 bonuses for various accomplishments (clever ways to go viral, to get big partners, to be more appealing, to induce more people to offer free couch-based free housing), etc. Negotiable with raises every month depending on our luck with fundraising and your performance. Once we can have a successful beta test and prove traction, pay can be considerably more. Happy to provide our own integrity and competency references. Our founder has done 3 mildly successful social venture startups
