Salary: $175,000-$200,000, commensurate with experience

Job Summary: The Vice President of Policy is tasked with leading End Citizens United’s policy strategy, working to advance anti-corruption, pro-democracy reforms at the federal and state levels. This role involves driving legislative advocacy efforts to combat the influence of big money in politics, protect voting rights, and fight corruption. The VP will also guide the development of policy positions, research and messaging. In this role, the VP will oversee staff at a variety of career and experience levels within their department. They will join a collaborative work environment and partner with ECU’s President, Executive Director and the rest of the executive team to ensure the organization continues increasing its political impact.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Develop and lead the organization’s policy strategy on key issues such as campaign finance reform, voting rights, and anti-corruption initiatives at both the federal and state levels.
• Advocate for legislative priorities by engaging with lawmakers and staff, legislative committees, government agencies, and other key stakeholders to push for pro-democracy policies and reforms.
• Manage and oversee the policy team, providing direction and support to staff working on legislative outreach and policy research and analysis.
• Monitor and analyze political and policy trends to identify opportunities for legislation, advocacy and coalition-building.
• Develop and maintain relationships with elected officials and their staffs, policymakers, government agencies, and policy-focused organizations to advance the organization’s policy goals and increase impact.
• Lead the creation of ECU’s legislative proposals and scorecards, and pursue new reports, research, and analysis.
• Assist with communications efforts related to policy initiatives, including drafting policy briefs, talking points and speeches.
• Represent ECU publicly at meetings, panels, other events, and occasionally in the press.
• Engage actively as a senior member of the executive team to help set organizational short and long-term goals and priorities.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications: The VP of Policy must be a self-starter with at least 10 years of federal legislative and/or policy experience. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of campaign finance reform, voting rights and anti-corruption issues. Proven success in building coalitions and advocating for policy outcomes at the federal and state levels is essential, and a passion for fighting big money in politics, voter suppression, and corruption are critical for success in this role. The candidate should possess strong leadership abilities, with experience managing teams and collaborating across departments to drive organizational goals. Job Location: This is a remote position, but the Vice President of Policy must be located in the DMV area and have the ability to attend meetings and events in Washington, D.C., on a daily basis. Regular work-related travel is required.
