    Position Summary

    The Development Specialist supports NWRPCA by securing grants and cultivating or soliciting sponsors, donors and partners in alignment with NWRPCA fundraising goals. The Development Specialist works with all staff to identify and develop funding opportunities, coordinates all aspects of NWRPCA’s development program, including grants, donations, sponsors and exhibitors, corporate revenue-sharing partnerships, sub-grantee partnerships, and contributed income, and acts as a liaison with project and program sponsors and funders.

    Key Competencies

    Business-to-business outreach, grant writing, problem-solving, analyzing work processes and outcomes, demonstrating creativity and innovation.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    1. Determine, in conjunction with senior management, actionable annual Development goals for inclusion in the agency budget.
    2. Seek and draft grants, act as the contract manager for development contracts and coordinate from start to finish staff or contractors who are working on grants to fund NWRPCA programs and initiatives.
    3. Review annual sponsors and revenue share partnerships with respect to ROI for NWRPCA and value to member service and product needs as identified in NWRPCA survey data and through conversations with partners and stakeholders.
    4. Work with the CEO, managers, staff, NWRPCA Board members and other key partners to identify and develop organizational sponsors and funders related to NWRPCA’s core mission, strategic plan, and service offerings.
    5. Participate, as appropriate, in developing and tracking salient agency strategic plan and federal funding work plan items and be aware of NWRPCA’s strategic approach.
    6. Advise senior management on an ongoing basis of recommended changes in the fund/development program.
    7. Recruit, prepare, and manage annual and conference sponsors, exhibitors, and advertisers to facilitate monetary support in return for branding and deliverables at conferences and various trainings. Establish, track, and advance appropriate partner relationships.
    8. Develop and maintain the partnership portfolio with for-profit corporations to establish mutually beneficial sponsorships and revenue-share agreements and collaborate with non-profit organizations serving community health center needs to inform members of low-cost or free services.
    9. Assist the Marketing Specialist with strategic planning and implementation for branding and marketing.
    10. Work with the Membership Specialist to help identify and secure offerings that promote the value of NWRPCA membership.
    11. Provide direction on development initiatives as requested by the Board of Directors and Senior Management.
    12. Perform all aspects of this position in compliance with state and federal regulations.
    13. Report any known or suspected compliance issues to the NWRPCA compliance officer.
    14. Demonstrate commitment to contributing to a collaborative working and learning environment.
    15. Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    Required

    1. Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
    2. Two to four years of experience in successful fund raising, business development, and/or grant writing required; such experience for non-profit organizations strongly preferred.
    3. Excellent verbal and written communication skills with demonstrated ability to produce high- quality written materials.
    4. Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining a high level of attention to detail.
    5. Ability and willingness to meet the public and develop professional relationships on behalf of NWRPCA.
    6. Responsive to changing management priorities and marketplace demands; able to adjust day- to-day work activities accordingly.
    7. Ability to work independently with minimal direction.
    8. Ability to work effectively as a team member.
    9. Must be able to use various software including customer relationship management (CRM) and fundraising-tracking software.
    10. Must reside in Washington State.
    11. Must be flexible, resourceful, self-motivated, able to carry a heavy workload and committed to service to the members we serve.
    12. Ability to work within the NWRPCA environment and support our corporate culture.
    13. Ability to travel.

    Preferred

    1. Experience in community health, policy/advocacy organizations or nonprofit associations preferred.
    2. Experience in marketing, public relations or public communication preferred

    Physical Requirements

    1. Most time spent sitting, with up to one-third (1/3) of time walking or standing. There are no restrictions on the ability to interrupt periods of sitting.
    2. Manual dexterity required for typing, filing, etc.
    3. Minimal lifting.
    4. Vision requirements as appropriate for working on a computer and with typed and handwritten materials.
    5. Ability to travel to meetings in a variety of locations statewide; e.g., CHCs, conferences, etc., many out-of- state and some national meetings.
