    The Organization: 

    Lighthouse Foundation of Chicagoland is a Black LGBTQ+ led, multiracial social justice organization that advances justice for Black LGBTQ+ people across Chicagoland through empowerment, education, and entertainment. Since July 2019, Lighthouse Foundation has launched the nation’s first Black Queer Equity index, partnered with 24 organizations, and hosted 87 activations with 3,700 Chicagoans. 

    The Role 

    The Licensed Mental Health Contractor will report to the Senior Manager of Operations and will oversee the mental health support services at Lighthouse Foundation events. This position is responsible for attending to pertinent mental health needs of Lighthouse Foundation event attendees, as well as providing linkage to care when necessary. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in providing mental health services to Black Queer people, as well as marginalized and intersectional communities, de-escalation, and on the ground mental health provision.

    Responsibilities 

    Mental Health Support

    • Provide mental health triage services at Lighthouse Foundation events
    • Utilize de-escalation at Lighthouse Foundation events when necessary
    • Consult on best practices to support the mental health of Lighthouse Foundation event attendees

    Job Qualifications 

    Required 

    • Master’s degree or higher in Counseling Psychology, Social Work, Counselor Education, Clinical Psychology or related field
    • Licensure as a mental health therapist, social worker, or psychologist
    • Training or certification in working with diverse and intersectional communities
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 

    Preferred 

    • Experience with de-escalation
    • Experience with chronic or serious mental health conditions
    • Experience with trauma-informed care

    Time Commitment: 2-4 hours per event

    Compensation: $75-$100 per hour
