    ORGANIZATION OVERVIEW

    Greenlight America is accelerating the clean energy transition throughout the U.S., winning local siting, permitting, and ordinance fights in support of solar, onshore and offshore wind, energy storage, and other forms of clean energy. Our founding team has led some of the largest grassroots organizing networks in the country, with a proven record of mobilizing millions of people to take action. Through our Regional Clean Power Mobilization Hubs, we work with partners on the ground to engage and mobilize local residents to speak up and show up in support of clean energy projects in their communities, winning more local approvals for those projects more quickly, and contributing to an overall environment where the U.S. exceeds our clean energy generation and transmission goals for the next decade.

    POSITION OVERVIEW

    The Senior Manager, Campaign Research plays a central role in Greenlight’s research and campaigns work, including leading the team that evaluates clean energy projects seeking local approvals and provides strategic analysis to support the design and execution of effective campaigns. As an early member of Greenlight’s team, the Senior Manager, Campaign Research will also have an important voice in shaping the overall strategic direction of Greenlight’s research work and research-informed strategy. A successful candidate for this position will be a skilled researcher and strategist, and an excellent writer and communicator. They will be highly creative and willing to take risks, and committed to building and leading a high performing team to support the work of the organization. The position is remote and reports to the Senior Director, Research.

    PRIMARY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Lead the campaign research team to evaluate campaign opportunities in support of clean energy projects that will require local approvals.
    • Research and analyze legal and regulatory frameworks to explain project approval processes its impact on clean energy deployment across multiple jurisdictions.
    • Provide sophisticated research and analysis of community and political dynamics to support the design and execution of campaigns.
    • Research and analyze the economic and community benefits of clean energy projects.
    • Provide ongoing research support to active campaigns.
    • Regularly evaluate and improve the quality of campaign research products and processes.
    • Assess research needs and develop workplans to meet them, including identifying and acquiring unique data sources, hiring vendors and contractors, and determining and recruiting for staffing needs.
    • Supervise the campaign research team to develop and grow the ability of the team to create research products to a high standard of quality.
    • Work closely with Greenlight’s research, campaigns, communications, and partnership staff to develop research products that meet strategic needs and advance organizational priorities.

    EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

    We are especially interested in candidates with the following qualifications:

    • ​4+ years of experience managing and performing research for advocacy and campaigns.
    • Demonstrated experience in leading a core research area or defined scope of work.
    • Demonstrated experience leading staff and consultants to ensure high performing teams that achieve organizational goals.
    • Experience identifying and acquiring data sources and tools, including in new research areas.
    • Willingness to think creatively, take risks, objectively evaluate results, and iterate.
    • Strong written and verbal communications skills.
    • Passion for accelerating the clean energy transition.

    COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

    The base annual salary for this position is $90,000-$120,000. We offer an excellent benefits package which includes 100% employer paid premiums for medical, dental, and vision insurance, unlimited paid time off, monthly technology stipend, and retirement contributions through 401k and Roth plans.
