Job Description: Executive Director Westwood Unidos

Westwood Unidos has a 15-year history of working to improve the quality of life of residents in the Westwood neighborhood of Denver and adjacent Southwest Denver area. We have initiatives in four areas - public health, public safety, built environment and economic opportunity - as prioritized by residents of the neighborhood. Our work focuses on the Spanish-speaking community. The Executive Director manages two staff and multiple volunteers, raises funds to support the organization’s mission, oversees projects and programs, and collaborates with the Board of Directors on new initiatives. The Executive Director will be based at our La Casita site with an option for remote work, and reports to the Board of Directors.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, train, and supervise staff, volunteers, and local leaders.
• Write grants and lead fundraising efforts.
• Develop and cultivate relationships with stakeholders including community members and funders.
• Oversee financial management and legal and regulatory compliance.
• Collaborate with the board of directors to develop strategic plans, policies and procedures, and new programs.
• Represent the organization to the community, city and public.

Required Skills and Experience

• Fluency in Spanish and English.
• Experience in community organizing and training community leaders.
• Experience in budgeting, staff management and fundraising.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills including the ability to engage a diverse group of stakeholders and cultures.
• Ability to advance community priorities working with varied organizational partners including community groups, businesses, public agencies, and public officials.

Preferred Qualifications

• At least 5 years of experience as the executive director of a community-based organization or in a comparable leadership position.
• Knowledge of and connections in Westwood and Southwest Denver.
• Demonstrated fundraising success including a history of awards from agencies and foundations and use of other methods such as events and endowments.
• Track record of effective leadership including motivation of staff and volunteers.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and implement strategies that take an organization to the next stage of growth.
• Masters in nonprofit management, MPH, or related graduate level degree.

Salary And Benefits

The salary range is $72,000-$92,000 depending on experience, with potential for bonuses depending on performance and fundraising success. Westwood Unidos’ excellent benefits package includes contributions to a 403(b)-retirement plan and health insurance. We offer a generous package of PTO, paid holidays and other leave. Salary and benefits are negotiable.
