    **This is position is grant funded and requires a candidate who is between the ages of 18 - 25 and identify as Latine, Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC)**

    The Youth Outreach Coordinator will play a critical role in developing, implementing, and managing programs and services aimed at addressing substance abuse and prevention within LGBTQ+ youth in San Joaquin County. The coordinator will work closely with youth, families, caregivers, schools, and community organizations to provide support, resources, and advocacy. This role requires a passionate individual committed to creating a safe and inclusive environment for LGBTQ+ youth.

    Essential Functions

    • Develop, coordinate, and facilitate programs, workshops, and events for LGBTQ+ youth, focusing on education, empowerment, and community engagement.
    • Conduct outreach to schools, community centers, and other youth-serving organizations to promote the San Joaquin Pride Center’s youth programs and services.
    • Provide direct support and resources to LGBTQ+ youth, including crisis intervention, counseling referrals, and mentorship opportunities.
    • Advocate for LGBTQ+ youth rights, and needs within the community and school systems.
    • Foster a sense of community among LGBTQ+ youth through regular meetings, social events, and support groups.
    • Build and maintain relationships with community organizations, schools, and stakeholders to enhance the reach and impact of youth programs.
    • Maintain accurate records of program activities, participant information, and outcomes. Prepare reports and evaluation to measure program effectiveness.
    • Provide training and educational resources to schools, parents, caregivers, and community members on LGBTQ+ youth issues, diversity, and inclusion.

    General Duties

    • Draft progress reports on grant deliverables.
    • Coordinate meetings, activities, workshops relevant to the program.
    • Participate in staff meetings, department meetings.
    • Other duties as assigned.
    • Must have reliable transportation for outreach initiatives*

    Qualifications & Experience

    • Passion for the Center’s mission and work to create a region where LGBTQ+ people thrive and a commitment to follow all policies and procedures of the organization.
    • Experience working with the LGBTQ+ community and familiarity with issues of particular relevance to LGBTQ+ people.
    • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills; public speaking, facilitation, coalition building capabilities to balance interests and work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
    • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with people of diverse races, ethnicities, nationalities, sexual orientations, gender identities, socio-economic backgrounds, religions, ages, English-speaking abilities, immigration status, and physical abilities in an intersectional environment.
    • Expertise in the area of LGBTQ identities, the intersectionality of gender, race, sexuality, and age.
    • Understanding of grant project activity design and data collection to ensure contract deliverables.
    • Flexibility of schedule, including some evenings and weekends as needed.

    Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree in communications, social work, public administration, nonprofit management, or related field; or equivalent combination of experience and education.
    • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a supervisory or management role, preferably in a nonprofit or community service environment.
    • Strong organizational and multitasking skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations.
    • Proficiency working with computers and Microsoft Office software including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneDrive, database systems, and social media tools.
    • Access to reliable automobile transportation with a valid driver’s license and proof of insurance is required. This position may on occasion be required to travel by air or rental car.
    • Offer of employment may be contingent on satisfactory results of a criminal history background check.
    • Employees must be legally permitted to work in the United States.
