Position: ERP Business/Technical Manager
ICTS Department
The Role:
Under the direction of the Chief Information Officer and the ICTS department, the ERP Business/Technical Manager has the primary responsibility of ensuring the quality of the software architecture, as well as any associated custom development to meet the CPS’ functional and technical requirements. This position will work closely with the offices of Finance & Budget, Human Resources, Payroll, City of Cambridge ERP team, ICTS Data team, and key business partners to assess, design, develop, unit test and implement product initiatives to support the Cambridge Public Schools. This person will work in various teams, and will need to have the ability to work independently and prioritize tasks to meet project deadlines.
Essential duties and responsibilities include:
- Document CPS PeopleSoft workflow and analyze issues in order to determine and prioritize most impactful improvements.
- Review CPS business practices as they relate to the ERP PS system; research, evaluate, and implement new and more efficient ways to perform processes; provide performance tuning as needed, including technical reviews, recommendations, and implementation.
- Establish project standards and controls. Oversee the implementation process of approved projects, and develop practices to ensure desired outcomes. Conduct briefings to keep interested parties informed and provide status reports.
- Work closely with counterparts on the City side to ensure continuity, clarity, and common goals of the workflows and requirements of the ERP
- Plan, organize, and manage the development, testing, and release of custom solutions and automations for PeopleSoft and related systems.
- Troubleshoot and resolve (or facilitate resolution of) system or application problems; collaborate with developers and programmers to resolve problems; be responsive to clients’ requests.
- Write, maintain, document, and optimize SQR and SQL scripts
- Test and evaluate PeopleSoft upgrades to determine potential impacts to business processes.
- Develop and maintain appropriate and adequate documentation of processes and procedures during implementation phases and final functional phases; develop and maintain appropriate and adequate documentation for system users (at all levels).
- Recommend, oversee and provide training and training materials for users to develop their skill sets as needed.
- Prepare specifications, recommendations and deployment plans for PS system access and security profiles.
- Assess the long term viability and, working with the City, determine the best long term path for these critical functions
- Perform other IT-related duties as assigned by the CIO and/or his/her designee.
- Attend meetings with CPS Human Resources, Finance, Payroll, and ICTS dept. staff, and others as needed.
- Consult with third party vendors regarding products, services, implementation, technical resources, and operations to provide appropriate levels of support.
- Create and maintain data extracts and reports
- As a member of the ICTS data team, assist with other school data projects as necessary.
Other Duties:
- Perform other functions and duties as assigned by the CIO.
- Attend educational meetings, conferences and seminars.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field OR five years of relevant experience.
- Experience in administering specialized IT services and/or enterprise software applications.
- Demonstrated professional competency in the field of personal computers and software use and applications.
- Experience developing, administering, and maintaining the aspects of ERP systems and programs, specifically PeopleSoft v8.59 or higher.
Required Skills and Abilities:
- High-level knowledge and understanding of computerized accounting systems.
- General knowledge and understanding of Human Resource, Benefit, Accounting, and Payroll functions.
- Able to perform detailed analysis of applicable systems.
- Able to develop short and long-term plans and evaluate outcomes of established goals.
- Demonstrated competency with SQL/SQR and at least one modern scripting or programming language
- Apply multi-tasking and organizational skills to demonstrate flexibility with shifting priorities and ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines.
- Able to effectively develop and deliver clear and concise information and recommendations in oral and written form at a professional level.
- Able to establish and maintain effective working relations with Department Heads and Managers, Elected Officials, administrative staff, vendors, contractors, and other parties of interest.
- Ability to perform the essential job functions independently as well as work well in a team environment.
- Ability to exercise judgment and discretion with sensitive or confidential matters.
- Prior public school experience and familiarity with Aspen SIS preferred.
Terms of Employment: 40 hours per week, 12 months per year. Reports to Chief Information Officer.
Salary: $117,149.97-$131,786.98 (Salary Plan 13 28), depending on experience & qualifications
