Communications and Publications Coordinator

The Society for Healthcare Epidemiology of America (SHEA) is seeking a Communications and Publications Coordinator. SHEA is a professional society representing over 3,000 members that improves public health by establishing infection-prevention measures and supporting antibiotic stewardship among healthcare providers.

The Communications and Publications Coordinator supports SHEA communications strategy including SHEA scientific publications. This role is responsible for executing on SHEA’s communication plans, media relations, and digital/social initiatives. This also includes producing the SHEA podcast series which are aimed to be a communication vehicle for SHEA.

The ideal candidate has the ability to coordinate multiple communication channels effectively while maintaining the organization’s brand/brand messaging.

Qualifications

Characteristic Essential Responsibilities

Program Coordination and Project Management:

• Develops and oversees social media content and strategy, including day-to-day management of Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and YouTube
• Collaborates with staff to develop and execute campaigns, and provide guidance on social media content development
• Provides comprehensive performance reports for social media channels, making recommendations to drive improved performance
• Collaborates with SHEA Marketing & Membership manager on SHEA Newsletter, drafting articles and helping to edit content.

Operations, Systems, and Processing Requests:

• Approves journal manuscript submission check-ins for SHEA scientific journal
• Fields media inquiries
• Coordinates and launches SHEA’s communication podcasts with 2 planned per month
• Reviews weekly Spotlight email
• Performs other work-related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

• Associate degree in related field, relevant experience can be submitted
• At least 1 year of experience in member services, program management and communications activities
• At least 1 year of experience with social media
• Demonstrated ability to adapt new trends into existing programs
• Association or nonprofit experience preferred, but not required

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word and SharePoint); functional knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat as needed

• Must be able to travel up to 5% of the time
